Just wondering if most people are going to make their own labels as opposed to having them made. Also, what does your label look like? Any cute ideas?

Re: What does your label look like?

What if you just put up a sign in your shop saying, "These items are not for children under 12!" Would that work???

Re: What does your label look like?

This is not a link to my label, but I thought I would post it here for those of you thinking of making your own labels. I have not tried it yet, But I think I will.

Re: What does your label look like?

I use a thin cotton 3/4" wide woven "webbing" of sorts that's kind of like a hem binding (but cotton). I use my custom hand stamp with "permanent" fabric ink, then heat set with my hand iron. It's really easy to mass produce them and I can do a couple of different colors, to coordinate with the best color for the product. I'm not

Re: What does your label look like?

FayeMaloneDesigns says:
Okay, many of you have perfectly lovely labels, and they work wonderfully for you. Great job!

BUT, we are concerned about labelling for the Consumer Product Safety Information Act, labels regarding Children's products, also known as the CPSIA. If affects product for children 12 and under. There are specific regs for us. This is what people are asking about!! ONLY!

~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~
This is what I thought the original question was about since it is in the CPSIA section.
But some of you do have some nice labels otherwise.
I am still marking for some of the links. thank you.
Re: What does your label look like?
handmadebymartha, you don't need your actual street address just the city, state, and country. Also the CPSIA never precisely said if the care & content or other required labels could be combined with the tracking label or if they need to be seperate from each other.
Re: What does your label look like?
right, skip your street address or you may have people on your doorstep!!But you do need to have country of origin of the fabric. I know that much of the quilting/designer fabrics we get now are made in china , and some in japan. And since you use a mixture of fabrics for quilting then you could say "sewn in the USA of imported fabrics"
Re: What does your label look like?
Those were awesome tags BarkingDog [pg5]. I use the very same printable cotton for my tags. I don't sell to children, though some of my products are kid friendly.
I've wondered about the content issue. A LOT of the fabric I use are remnants, vintage or found. I don't know what half of my stash is made out of. I can figure out if it's wool by applying heat; but as far as a cotton blend, I have no idea how to figure that out. Anyhow, this is good information if I ever wanted to make stuffies [which I've played with the idea a few times].
You could say "Secondhand materials — fiber content unknown."
Re: What does your label look like?
Does anyone know if it's ok to put the mfg date as Aug/Sept instead of an exact date?
Hugs,
Re: What does your label look like?
I'm now going to use the original manufacturer tag for my tees (previously I have replaced it) and add my own tag witht he DOM, POM, etc. and resew into side seam. That way I have the original garment details, plus my own.
Re: What does your label look like?
So, question. Has to have city AND state/Country, or just state/country?
Also, I make bows. Should I put a sticker on the card, include this in the card printing, or what? Where does it need to go?
Re: What does your label look like?
Humble, did you make these items before Aug 14th? if you did, you don't have to label them...
Re: What does your label look like?
I was wondering....if you are selling something made before August 15 (and it doesn't need a label)....would you make a note of that in your item description?
Re: What does your label look like?
No, don't make a note, 99% of people wouldn't have a clue what you are talking about. And it's Aug 14th. And if you make some kind of a "note" people who don't have a clue will think that anything made before aug 14th is illegal and deadly, which is all bull.
