Just wondering if most people are going to make their own labels as opposed to having them made. Also, what does your label look like? Any cute ideas?

Re: What does your label look like?

For clothing, I am going to use two labels, one with Co. info and one with care instructions and I will be sewing them in.

For aniamls, I am going to use two labels also, one with Co. info and one double-sided with care instructions on one side and choking hazard info on other side. They also will be sewn in.

Barking dog, Those are great. If you don't mind sharing, where do you get your printable labels?

-----------

I used June Tailor Colorfast Sew-In Inkjet Fabric Sheets from JoAnn's. The item number is JT-961 White Colorfast 10 Pack.

I can get 32 labels per sheet using 5.5 pt type. The small print is still very crisp and legible.

You're welcome, cicrafts! I hope it provided some encouragement that it is possible to squeeze a lot of information on a small label. :)

Re: What does your label look like?

Barking dog that is fabulous!!! Did you use a tute do make those? I'm not the greatest figuring out things on the computer, but surely I can figure this out. You said they are 1 inch wide by how long? And is that folded length or before folded length? Oh, and I thought we were supposed to have the city, state, and country on them?

Thanks again, makes me feel a little better about this whole issue!

Re: What does your label look like?

There is also a product called "Printed Treasures" that most quilt shops sell. It is the same thing as what Barkingdog used. I like the fabric better in the "PT".

No, I didn't use a tute. I am a graphic designer by profession, so it was simple for me to typeset and lay out a sheet.

The flat label measures 1" wide x 2-13/16" long. When folded, it is about 1-7/16" long. There is a 1/4" seam allowance at the top and bottom, so the part that is visible after attaching it to the item is approximately 1-1/8" long.

The RN (Registered Identification Number) takes the place of my company name and address.

Re: What does your label look like?

I make labels for each of my products. I name them too. I know it is alot more work, but each item is individualized to the max that way. I use Printshop and have many punches available. You need to use a punch that allows you to see your label while you are punching it. Try it and have some fun.

Re: What does your label look like?

Newark Dressmaker Supply---www.newarkdress.com--has many labels that you can customize. I have always used theirs and have been pleased. They have size and care labels as well. I will probably be ordering custom labels with my name and location and will write the DOM on the back of the care label.

Re: What does your label look like?

I am a soon to be SAHM and thinking about getting my store back up and this whole CPSIA thing makes me completely nervous.

So, for hairbow makers, would a hairbow card with all of this information on it be considered a label?
