I haven't read all the forum threads on the CPSIA new law that will go into effect in February, but the ones I have read have made my heart sink! I'm not affected by this law, but I very much love handmade children's items and I myself have 3 little kiddos.

If you're a shop/seller that will be affected by this new law and you are scrambling to unload your inventory before the February deadline, please POST HERE in this thread so we can compile a long list of sellers.....this way I can shop, shop, shop in your shops and others here on Etsy who want to help but don't know how can also know who to buy from. This is my small way of helping by supporting you all from a buyers standpoint and also come alongside you from a fellow seller's standpoint. I love to buy children's gifts for lots of friends who have baby showers and I also love unique items for my own kids too. Please post your shop so we can support you!

So let's get some support going for you (and encouragement too) and hopefully you can make some sales during this very difficult time.

I'm here for you!

All my stuff is for girls 10 and under...I have ideas of how to change the focus of my shop, but in the meantime I am still making bows! I can't help it, it's what I love to do!

Re: How can I help you? (CPSIA)

I agree, deelind. I'm not closing my shop until someone shuts me down. If they want to make an example of me, go for it. I don't take "federal offense" or "$100,000 fine" lightly, but this is total baloney and I'm going to fight to the death. Due to the bad economy affecting my husband's job drastically, these slippers are supporting my family and I can't afford to shut down.

Re: How can I help you? (CPSIA)

Looks like Etsy will be losing alot of money! We lose, they lose. This is the most wacko thing I have ever heard of. Like I said before, I will sell my items right up until the day before the law goes into effect. I should let it stay, if they arrest me I could use the rest!

Re: How can I help you? (CPSIA)

I just read that products made before November 12th, 2008 do not have to be tested or certified. This new law only applies to items produced on November 12th 2008 or after. I am sorry, i do not know how to put the link to the website in but here is the website address.

http://www.cpsc.gov/businfo/frnotices/fr09/certification.html

has anyone else heard this? also i talked to another supplier that told me this before i found this website. I know this will not help anyone with their new products but it may save some of their stock.

I live in michigan, i called my state senators office for the state of michigan, (not the federal government) asking them if they were able to help in any way or if they were doing anything to protect our small businesses in michigan, they told me they could not help me as it was a federal law, not a state law. Although they did not know anything about the law either. very frustrating.

Re: How can I help you? (CPSIA)

I have started to potato stamp tote bags intended for adults, and I am loving it!! BUT... I have a huge inventory of childrens t-shirts that I won't be able to sell in February if CPSIA sticks!
They make great baby shower and birthday gifts and they are marked down $10 each or 3 for $25.
Thanks for taking a look!

Re: How can I help you? (CPSIA)

heartworksbylori, thank you so much for starting this thread! I have a few child and baby items in my shop and I intend to keep listing new items until February 10th. After that I will just list the patterns.

I have bought so many cool handmade items for my kids on etsy and HATE IT that this law may shut down my favorite shops. I've been on a shopping spree lately for kids items, even things that my kids are too young for right now and I may have to put away for a year or more.

Re: How can I help you? (CPSIA)

My daughter is expecting a baby. I talked to her about this just now. She asked me to go on here and start looking for things to buy. The items will have to be neutral though. We don't know yet if the baby is a girl or a boy. I'm glad I've participated in this thread. i will definitely be checking out all of your shops.

This hurts everyone worldwide. And the consumers too. I had not grasped how big a deal this is until today.

I have some baby clogs I'm putting on sale.

It's very sad, as in the past I've made many cute booties and knitted play food. - but for now, I'm just concentrating on my tea cosies and accessories.

Re: How can I help you? (CPSIA)

I have a few crocheted toddler/child tops and hats left in my shop.
Since I don't make primarily kids items I have slashed the prices in half.
Actually I had a lot of plans to open a shop just for kids accessories and clothes, but now this plan is uncertain.
Perhaps you want to have a look around in my shop.

Re: How can I help you? (CPSIA)

Lori- This is a beautiful idea! As you know, but some don't, I have 3 little girls. I have purchased clothing and children's items on etsy and am very sad to hear of what CPSIA will mean for them (and me as a mom & buyer)!

I am going to mark this so I can go through and try to find some stuff before it is all gone. I am still hoping for a miracle for all these shops...

In case any of you didn't know also, we are using the tag "cpsia sale" if you are trying to liquidate inventory.

Re: How can I help you? (CPSIA)

I will no longer be able to sell my items into the US - it's too bad really. I LOVE making kids stuff.

There is nothing like a big smile on a child's face to let you know that they love it.

Re: How can I help you? (CPSIA)

It effects me to the core. Not all my items are for children, but since they are cute and colorful and would appeal to a child, I'm in deep trouble. I'm still hoping that all our letters and votes will be heard and the necessary changes will be made. I'd hate to go out of business before I ever even got the chance to get it off the ground.
