I haven't read all the forum threads on the CPSIA new law that will go into effect in February, but the ones I have read have made my heart sink! I'm not affected by this law, but I very much love handmade children's items and I myself have 3 little kiddos.

If you're a shop/seller that will be affected by this new law and you are scrambling to unload your inventory before the February deadline, please POST HERE in this thread so we can compile a long list of sellers.....this way I can shop, shop, shop in your shops and others here on Etsy who want to help but don't know how can also know who to buy from. This is my small way of helping by supporting you all from a buyers standpoint and also come alongside you from a fellow seller's standpoint. I love to buy children's gifts for lots of friends who have baby showers and I also love unique items for my own kids too. Please post your shop so we can support you!

So let's get some support going for you (and encouragement too) and hopefully you can make some sales during this very difficult time.

If a huge amount of people (other sellers & buyers) on Etsy support all of you by buying up lots of your merchandise before the deadline, then at least we can serve you in some small way :)

If we get some movement going where enough people join in to do some wonderful buying, then it helps to cushion the blow a little, definitely not enough though.

I totally feel the same way! I don't have young children but I have enjoyed looking at all of the wonderful products offered here for children.

I even mentioned CPSIA to my husband who I would have thought would be totally clueless regarding this about how awful it was and he knew exactly what I was talking about.

As soon as I mentioned it he pointed out that our government screwed up by letting big businesses bring in inferior lead (an other nasty things)filled products into our country for sale and as a result they are overreacting by hurting the small business person by this ridiculous testing that is not necessary.

How ironic that it will be the big companies that brought this about and they will be the ones to profit off of this by running the smaller companies out of business.

The whole thing makes me sick and if I sold children's things I don't know what I would do besides have a good cry and try to write to my local congressman.

It's really beyond ridiculous! Why not test EVERYTHING? When I was a toddler my mother always liked to tell me stories about how much I loved to play with my aunt's grown up shoes.

It is beyond belief that our government (who really want to cover their a$$ with this) are acting like they care so much about child safety. What a bunch of clueless hypocrites!

Almost my entire shop (except for one item right now) is for kids. I'm having a baby in just over a week and I've gotten so much for her from sellers on Etsy.
I'm closing shop to have the baby, and I don't know when or if I'll be able to open thanks to this ridiculous law.

I've spent lots of time crying over this. I've written to my congressmen, and read everything I can get my hands on about it. I'm really hoping that something changes soon. I have every confidence that changes WILL be made. But it may not be until so many people are driven out of business that congress finally wakes up to the reality of what they have done.
