For the past few days I have been struggling w/ a domain issue (the forwarding & masking). I am getting closer to resolving but appear to be stuck on one last issue. I currently have my domain with godaddy. 1820bagco.com and I followed the instructions on pointing my domain to my site (via CName, forwarding and masking). When I type 1820bag.com into the address line I now land on my home bag (hooray), the address is masked to reflect 1820 bag co, however when I type www.1820bagco.com I now land on my home page (hooray again) but in the address line i see (http://hmmills.indiemade.com/content/home). I would like to see www.1820bagco in the address line, any ideas on what I am doing incorrectly? And if I need to live w/ this is there any way I can change my url from hmmills.indiemade to 1820bagco.indiemade?

Is it possible to put a slide show on your home page ?

Yes, it is. Three ways: set your gallery be your home page, use an animated image file, or you can embed a slideshow. I hope this helps.

I am so mad at myself I had spend hours and cannot figure it out how to build my website on indiemade, I had no choice but cancel it !! But I really like to have my website with indiemade, the problem I had is I couldn't preview my store front page and after I upload a picture for the logo I wish to preview it before I start to built others applications...I really wish I can try it again..

@Helen Mills I had the same issue too! I want my own URL shows on the browser!!
Maybe I am not smart enough ...haha!!

Eileen, I am guessing your long indiemade url shows on your browser because of caching. If you decide to re-open your site, try a new browser or clear your cookies. Or, you can ask a friend to try your www.yoursite.com and ask them what they see.

Almost all website providers (hosted services) like IndieMade use the same technology to get a custom domain url to the hosted service url.

Here is an overview of the steps:

1. login to your domain registrar's panel to access DNS
2. look for the cname record for "www" and enter your full length indiemade url. save your zone settings.
3.Now take an additional step: forward your root custom domain (yoursite.com) to your www url (www.yoursite.com). and that should take care of it.

So sorry you felt as though it was too difficult. We try really hard to walk the fine line of adding functionality for advanced features, while keeping everything simple for everyone!

i have a bit of a collage right now... unique domain hosted by bluehost and site built with weebly. Indiemade looks like just the ticket to integrate the two into one easy to manage site/storefront.

What happens to emails that are associated with my domain if i switch from bluehost to indiemade hosting? Will i still need them for this?

Also is there anything like Direct check out for repeat customers that do not want to sign up to PayPaly, but might reach their limit for CC use without a account?

My heart is all a flutter over the possibilities of Indiemade!!

Made a direct sale off indiemade. For some reason the shipping charges were not added to invoice.

I am confused as to what I should be putting in the box "alternate text" and "title" next to each picture when I am listing an item.

Do I put the same title from the top of the page as the alternate text or do I put a different phrase next to each picture?

Annette... For he alt text you want to use the title of your listing. If you have more than one picture... use different but similar alt text.

Alternate text is used for describing the photo to machines (search engines/computers). It provides an excellent opportunity for SEO, because more descriptors can be added specific to the image. Don't forget - search engines only read text.

For instance, if you are selling a vintage dresser, you might have one image with the alt text: "Vintage dresser side view shows tongue and groove construction"

Here's Wiki's answer: "Alternative text is text associated with an image that serves the same purpose and conveys the same essential information as the image.[1] In situations where the image is not available to the reader (perhaps because they have turned off images in their web browser, or are using a screen reader due to a visual impairment) the alternative text ensures no information or functionality is lost.[1] Absent or unhelpful alternative text is a source of frustration for blind users of the Web.[2]"

No matter how small I make my pics, some come out way too large on the indiemade site. If I leave them at original size...like indiemade suggests...they are STILL too big. I really don't want to change the theme.
