Software Program to create your own embroidery.

Hello,

I just bought the brother sewing and embroider machine.
Do I need to buy a software too if I want to design my own embroidery.
I thought they come with the machine.
Where you can find the free program for embroider?
I used Mac book and it couldn't work for the free trail.

Any suggestions ?

Hi Chandida,

No the software that comes with the machine is generally not the one you would need to digitize, at least my Dream Creator did not come with it. We upgraded to PE Next for designing and digitizing. We also have Embird, but not sure if that will work with Mac.

embird is windows based...maybe there's a patch for that somewhere to be found, but I wouldn't know for sure
I've looked into the PE design NEXT to, but I found that so expensive!
Embird whith all the add-ons doesn't even come close to the price of NEXT...
(or is there something i'm missing here and is NEXT really a wonder to work with or something?)

Usually what you get is a basic software on your machine - you can select stiches or basic preset designs, but that won't do if you think of digitalizing just about anything.

I got my software at over half price discount from the shop I got my machine from and it still was expensive, but I wouldn't be able to afford it otherwise.

There is a big learning curve, but Youtube has lots of videos to look at about the various programs. I advise you to stay away from Amazing Design digitizing software, it is very frustrating and doesn't do much. It is a big hassle because you need to get a software key from them and it's not instant, I paid for some of it and had to wait a week for the software key. In this day of instant everything.

We use Embrilliance's Stitch Artist (Level 1) for Mac. It's not free, but it's fairly affordable and you have many options to create original designs and to get [almost] as detailed as you'd like. If you ever feel you need more options within the program, you can always upgrade.

I purchased Brother PE Design Next and it was a fairly nice software program that allows you to import artwork and create the embroidery. However, I found it substandard in some functions and you have to have that frustrating dongle thing attached to your computer to use it. I returned it and then bought Floriani Total Control U. Kind of pricey but it is fabulous! I love it. I have used Pulse software (designed for Tajima) in the past and it is outrageously expensive. But, the Floriani uses Pulse developers and I found many similarities in both. I love it and it is perfect. It will do other things that your basic software won't do, such as allowing for larger, and wider lettering.

I purchased and use today, Sew What Pro and Sew Artist for my embroidery. It is an absolute great program and very user friendly. They have the best customer service as well. I use it with my Brother embroidery machine and have not had any issues as of yet.
