You can send larger parcels as well very cheap with Deutsche Bundespost, International letter, it's much cheaper than parcels via DHL and you can insure them very good as well. Have a look to Deutsche Bundespost, International letter, they show you there what sizes are allowed for parcels, It's big enough for my bigger teddy bears up to 45 centimeter. Be careful with DHL parcels for 35,00 Euro, the insurance with international sending is only a small part of the value of the item, not 500,00 Euro as it is with national parcels. If you want full insurance there you have to pay more than 50,00 Euro for it. They didn't even know this in my post office, I had to tell them. I can now send bigger parcels fully insured for about 12,00 Euro instead of more than 50,00 Euro. Parcels to USA and Canada are usually there within four days, then it depends on the custom, usually the parcels need 2 weeks. An item to Australia was there very quickly in four days.
