I ship a lot to USA and Australia. I use Deutsche Post and DHL but most packets or maxibrief take 3-4 weeks. Is there any way to do it faster without spending over 150€ for a DHL express service? My customers always ask if there are other options with tracking, faster shipping, etc but I am not sure.

You can respond in German but my German is not good enough for me to write!!

I suspect that the delay is caused by Customs so there isn't much you can do. I have heard that post gets through Customs faster if you stick one of those clear plastic pockets with the invoice on the package, but I haven't tried that yet. Parcles tends to arrive failry quickly at the destination, but is held in Customs for up to a few weeks (I have that happen every time I send something to the US and Australia).

Sorry I can't help with info about other postal carriers as I no longer live in Germany. I hope others may have some good suggestions there.

You'll have to check out the deutschepost website to find a express upgrade for maxibrief or großbrief. DHL express is much more expensive. But if you send items that fit into a großbrief you can send it cheaper with deutsche post.

I ship my items as an International Letter (big) in a package as a registered and insured mail for 7,00 EUR worldwide. In the long term the shippment takes 5 to 10 days, in one case nearly 4 weeks.

so i´m not in germany but austria but when i ship in letters i ship priority and it usually does not take longer than 3 -7 days for letters to arrive in north america and i don´t even need a custom form.
i can´t believe it´s inpossible to ship from germany at similar conditions...

Maxibrief Einschreiben, insured and trackable 5,50€. Usually takes a week to the US, sometimes but rarely two, and 2-3 weeks to Australia.
Larger packages via DHL ( 17€ Päckchen mit Nachweis or 35€ Paket) used to take 1-2 weeks as well, but USPS is a slow nightmare lately.

You can send larger parcels as well very cheap with Deutsche Bundespost, International letter, it's much cheaper than parcels via DHL and you can insure them very good as well. Have a look to Deutsche Bundespost, International letter, they show you there what sizes are allowed for parcels, It's big enough for my bigger teddy bears up to 45 centimeter. Be careful with DHL parcels for 35,00 Euro, the insurance with international sending is only a small part of the value of the item, not 500,00 Euro as it is with national parcels. If you want full insurance there you have to pay more than 50,00 Euro for it. They didn't even know this in my post office, I had to tell them. I can now send bigger parcels fully insured for about 12,00 Euro instead of more than 50,00 Euro. Parcels to USA and Canada are usually there within four days, then it depends on the custom, usually the parcels need 2 weeks. An item to Australia was there very quickly in four days.
