I had an AMAZING holiday season last year... It was phenomenal!! I'm really looking forward to it again! I get so busy that once it starts hubby lets me get a maid!!! WOOHOO!! :) I think for me it's that I have had a 30% increase in sales so far this year, and then August hit, and I'm 15% less this August then I was last August.. (hubby does that math for me)
I feel the same way. I think it's just the week before a holiday. To me it seems since they changed the way things list ~ ~The relavency ~ sales died down. My daugher in law has had more success since then, but this week is bad for her too. I am trying to find my 25 people to like my facebook so I can use that too. Anyone interested in "liking me" ???
It feels as if nobody can find my shop! I haven't had many views at all and am extremely frustrated. It would be great if Etsy could figure out new ways to market and help shoppers to know what Etsy is. I talk to everybody about my Etsy shops but tend to get a lot of blank stares, I have to explain Etsy to them.....
I agree with you DownBlackberryLane. Some kind of Etsy advertising would be a good thing. I'm always telling people about Etsy but only a few have ever heard of it. Since most of us are having issues with slow or no sales, then Etsy's revenues are going to be down too. I hope things change for the better for all of us soon. It can be frustrating when you work so hard to stay at the top of the game.
Hi! We are new to this team (or any team!) and on Etsy for 11 months. Our views have been up since the switch to relevency, but sales are down. We haven't enough experience to know for certain, but wonder if one reason for increased views without increased sales is that a lot of the views aren't shoppers, but rather other Etsians who are working on their titles and tags and checking where their listings fall. We certainly can't help but click on eye-catching items from our competition no and then, as well as peek at their tags ;)
I, also, agree with DownBlackberryLane. Hardly anyone I know or talk to knows what etsy is, except for an occasional crafter who is, also, looking to sell!. I always have to try to explain it to them. I'm sure that some advertising would help. I hope things pick up for everyone soon.
Just compare this group alone. How many are buyers, how many are sellers. Now imagine Etsy. This is a part time, if that, income. I bet 99% are buyers just passing the time like we are now. Who are they in your circles, who hearted you, etc. - they are all shop keeps also. Get your things out there in stores and worry about Etsy much less. Seeing is believing isn't it.
Kaboodle, Tumblr, facebook, facebook pages (so much easier these days), twitter, forums, teams, list or message on all of these every day. Choose teams that are in your speciality, but also where your target market hangs out. Same with all the others. We have more time for these now that search is improved
You can't sell without views and the more views, the better your chances of selling. Although sometimes one view is all it takes.
Feel positive and involved. Be a participating member. Even learn more about your specialty. But... the most important thing is to be positive.
My views have been all over the place, but not all together too bad, yet still no sales. :( Come on holiday shopping season! Is the economy reallyl that bad?? LOL
August was a great month for me then but September was incredible!!
I didn't know it was going to be, because the beginning of the month seemed really slow...then it ramped up. Now October so far seems very slow, maybe 100 less views per day and I feel like I'm tapping my nails at the computer waiting for sales to trickle in.....but trying to remember that Sept started the same way......
Have no fear!! its just the beginning of the month. Most folks just got done paying bills and need that next paycheck to roll in! It will all come around....at least I hope it will :)
I have been on Etsy for 2 1/2 weeks and I did a lot of research on Etsy before I published anything. I thought I had a pretty good understanding of business on Etsy however, I have not had any sales. How do I just make the first sale? Advice sure would be appreciated. Thanks, Kay
@kayknightdesigns, 2 1/2 weeks isn't a long time to go without a sale. You've got very high end jewelry and the market for it just isn't as big as it is for costume jewelry. Try to hang in there!
