I'm REALLY hoping it's just because August is so notoriously slow.... because this is driving me crazy! ............. ^ I know the feeling, views are high, especially since the relevancy switch but my sales are dead.:/ *finger's crossed that it's just an August thing...
I think it helps to take a wider view of sales. August is slow but if I compare this August to the past few years my sales have increased each year. I'm hoping my sales will be better before Christmas, though In the past years the holiday months have not been so good and then they spike up in January and I do well through May or June. Could this be about my specialty of planters?

So what else are you all doing except sitting there waiting for views? I have my own website, blog, Facebook page, Twitter. I run promotions and sales. I do treasuries and join as many teams as I can. I post an item from my store and a treasury on as many teams as I can as often as I can. I just sent out 50 MOO postcards with my jewelry on the front and an invite to a "jewelry party" in October. Then I'll offer promotions for people to sign up to have one at their house. I have my items in two local galleries and the local visitors center, at my spa and hairstylists, and at my favorite local boutique. I even have a tray of jewelry with me in the car all the time - you just never know when you will have the opportunity for a contact. Just my thoughts. Libby
I have had only 21 views today. I think that is the lowest EVER! Wow. Very depressing. I look so forward to checking my stats and then boom! Nothing! Looking forward to things picking up!
My sales are slow, and I haven't had any big orders in a month, but look at the threads. Everyone is feeling it. I don't care what Etsy says, if anyone is selling out their shop I haven't seen it. Hang in there and focus. It's really hard because most of us are just getting by, but that's the point. Hearts and views don't cost anything and I'm drawing up my wish list in case I get enough sales to justify buying somethng, and so is everyone else. Any kind of hope in the economy and some of those hearts will turn into dollars. Think of how you feel and then look at your shop through the eyes of a buyer. Can you do anything differently? I'm going to focus on excellence and if someone wants to buy it, fantastic. If I don't sell anything, I will know that it is not because of what I'm offering but because people are as broke as I am. --Carol

I know exactly what you mean. I've heard that "it's harder to get views" now, but haven't heard any comprehensive explanation as to WHY. My sales also totally died with no warning and haven't returned.
I think that in August and September (and to some degree in October) customers do what I call "pre-shopping" -- they browse around and gather ideas about gifts they may want to purchase later in the holiday season. This is based on long experience doing retail shows and a weekly market; people like to spend some time getting to know your products, and later focus in on specific items for holiday gift-giving. Right now I am emphasizing the gift-ability of various items, pointing out who they would be good for, and I'm looking at every view and especially favorite as a potential holiday sale -- so slow sales are not so scary, since my experience tells me that will pick up as a result of smart marketing now.
Have any of you guys thought about creating a promo code? Some people will buy if they feel they are saving money.I created one for my shop and people did use it a lot! Just an idea maybe you can give a little 10% or 15% discount if you are able to... I always say its better to sell a lot at a great price than one for a big price. This will also advertise, I Wrote save 15% discount on the listing tittles it worked!
If you are able to give a little discount it might not be a bad idea
I just joined in August as well. I am getting some favorites and have been included in a few treasuries. I have edited my listings and I know I need to add more inventory that will come I got laid off and money is tight. I have started a Facebook page a blog and I'm on Twitter. Twitter is very powerful in my opinion. I know that August is slow, the economy is bad, kids are going back to school. I too, were some of my headbands/brooches when I go out. Carry business cards, etc.
Hang in there! Sales will come! Keep at it hard work will pay off.
I'm finding that the relevancy search isn't how most of my visitors are finding me. Oh, I am getting searched and I get good results, but it isn't the majority of ways people find me. Renewing is still the best method for me. At the top of every relevancy search results page is a top line of the most recent items in that search. I may be on page 3 of the relevancy but I'm also on the top of page 1 or 2 .And I'm still on top in the catagories and on the first page for renewals. It's expensive, though, so you have to consider that in your cost of sales.
It's also labor day weekend...people are probably gearing up to the leave the home and therefore...computer marketplace...for a weekend. At least at my local everyone is heading to the internet-free lake.
I haven't been open for very long, and I've noticed a slow down in my sales too (the few that I've had! :)) I just think it's the holiday/back to school combination. People are on vacation, having weddings, parties, etc..
Though I'm relatively new I have a decent amount of views and a few "favorites" every day but sales are s l o w !! The few sales I've had are of the least expensive thing in my shop. I keep hearing this is the slow season and that we should be gearing up for the holidays.....has any one experienced a good holiday season? I want to believe..........................
