Why you are not getting found newbies

Things are tough when your category has 2,000,000 items, and you have 40.
You must do everything possible to give yourself a chance to be found. I dont see that in threads compalining about low views.
And, it isnt that hard, nor does it take much time to have good tags and titles. Ignore all that constant "tweaking" noise you read about. Do it right the first time, and you can spend the tweaking time making things.

I have learned the following from the Queen of SEO:

1.Your title is not the name of your item. It is a 70 character string whose goal is to get your item found by etsy search.

2. If you cant tell exactly what the item is by reading your tags, your tags stink. Those words are what people search on. If I had a dime for every purple necklace that had neither purple nor necklace in the tags, I would have a lot of dimes.

3. Words in your title must show up in your tags. If Blue scarf is in your title, blue scarf needs to be in your tags.

4. Use as many of the 20 characters in your tags as possible. Blue scarf as one tag is better than blue, then scarf as two tags.

Oh my goodness, your honesty is refreshing!

I just started in May and have been trying to optimize my tags and titles and have well lit photos, but my views are still under 100. I would love some brutal honesty if you can spare the time. I really appreciated reading all of the other reviews for people. Very helpful and I look forward to hearing what you would have to say about mine.

Hi Alex, this thread came at the perfect timefor me! I started going back to my first listings and they were a mess! I think I've improved but, I'm a little older and still not very computor savvy. Any suggestions would be greatly appreciated!

Alex -- I love your honesty. Tell it like it is! Unfortunately I came across this thread after I finished updating my tags and titles. Ugggghhhh!!!

Based on your advice to others I will go back tomorrown and make some changes to my tags. I need to combine a few tags, add words from the titles, etc.

you have fleur de lis stuff, me too! I just sent 4 of those to the wrong person!! And 3 of her things to someone else!! wtf
it says bracelet in shell. what does that mean? no clue. didya know the fleur is the symbol of kappakappagamma sorority?? And blue is their color!! Guess who makes blue fleur de lis and tags them with kappakappagamma. And they cant tradenark the fleur de lis. Guess who sells a lot to sorority chicks?? I bet if uou had a blue fleur de lis charm bracelet, you may sell a few. I have 300+ search hits on kkg in 6 months.so.......

the tags are awful. I felt like that gay guy on the runway show after seeing a beer gut in silk shirt.
combine charm and bracelet as a tag
as well as any two of the singles that work together,
use your shop name as a tag for a few items. You might be famous some day.
and use fleur de lis multiple times in the tags. You have eight letters to work with. charm, bracelet, etc

I love those trumpet earrings. I would SO wear those.If i were a girl. and hot.
you habe three pictures, and one of those is not good. Use all five.
you dont have swavorski in the title. or is it svarworski. whatev '
most of your pix are kinda dull. Need more light. Jewelry is tough to photograph. it would drive me dog kicking nuts.
are bracelets adjustable? you said they fit most wrists, soooo i;m wondering..
I see you have word bracelets. I think they will sell. I sell words like hope, love, joy, peace, too. My best seller is Bite Me.
your tags for believe are mucho better. get rid of christmas gift. I like believe bracelet.

so, I like your stuff... very cute, need more and better pics, matching tags/ titles, and more listings. things get better with 50.

how is that g clef attatched? it looks big for the cover
you dont have gclef or treble clef in the tags or title.
crochet wall art looks good , i would like all 5 pix
maybe for the green scarf you can use crochet scarf as a tag.
irish scarf. mens scarf, I would work scarf into the tags at least 5 times. SOme may disagree.
lotta crochet on here, i would try to stand apart from the crowd. do more wall art(good tag) if you like that. smaller pond. inhabit the niches. i do

thanks Alex for your encouragement. Some photos are by professional photographer & some I took myself. I'm waiting for photos from the last photo shooting, & then I'll add photos with girls wearing my jewelry.
Paintings, oh yes, I'm thinking about prints. I'm just on the way to clear up where I can get it. But I see that it's very reasonable to sell them here.

kristenm. jeweler/chemist. what is it with chick chemists and the creative arts? I know 2 chemist jewelers, a quilter and a painter. My uncle is a chemist , not real creative. Anywho..
your pics are great, you did your about page, descriptions are well written, tags are pretty good, as are the titles.I see yuo have the stone shape in a title, maybe tag that also- do women care about that? I dunno.
I would love to see a blue crescent moon pendant. Can you do that? I have great success with moons. Lotta moon collectors, many are named Moon.

*What would help you most getting found is more items.**

A friend does jewelry and it took a year for her to get going. She hit on wedding party jewelry. I know you chem grad students have Lots of free time.
only thing I can see is that you have a lot of general type items, I am sure there are niches you can inhabit. Not sure what.
any chance you get, use teal, aqua and turquoise in tags and titles. Good words for me.

I get the vibe from your store that you do complete work with everything. Your assignments are on time and done well, you dont lose socks, you are prepared for all tests. I will try not to hate on that.
You will do as well here as you want.

lots goth type stuff..i see you have butterflybracelet as a tag. need a space between the two word tags.Didndt find you in search before i lost patience. there are others like that also. I dont think the search function knows they are two words.you dont have bohemian or boho in the tags for that one. I would use both in there.
you do have a distinctive style. that helps
do you have stuff with a greek motif? I would like that if I bought something from greece. But, I'm a serb and partial to the greeks.Like a greek coin instead of a button. Greeks in the US are very clannish about greek stuff. I sell tons of serb stuff to serbs in the US. a very good niche for me.
for the fish cuff-love those- it says design is not printed on the leather, How is it put on? Seahorse stuff is hot now.
i like the purple earrings, but you only have 3 pictures. They almost look like the shape of greece. that would be cool.
you dont have amethyst in the title.
some of the goth stuff does not have goth in the titles
you have room in most of your titles for more attributes.
use all five pictures. more light would be nice too

you are doing good so far
i think you have some good niches to exploit with the goth and boho stuff.

i am looking at your stuff, and they are all prints. Prints of what? Are they digital photos that have been run thru software to make them look pen and ink? Drawings? Paintings? I would like to know more about your process.
they almost look like paintings on glass.
tagging abstract work is hard.
your watermark is too big. and distracting.
i love the urban purple print, except for the big watermark in the middle
your tags are okish, but I would like more specific and descriptive words used. Yours are kinda general. No clue how to do that with abstract.
maybe double up on the words in the tags:digital art bird print, moon art(for the falcon one),use combos when you can.Even with colors, midnight blue brown, etc.

do you check to see where you are when you search keywords? I do. a little. but i have no patience. It does help

so, more words in your tags, and let me in on your process. I like to know "how".

While I opened my shop a few years ago, I never had the time to stock it until this last month. After a couple of weeks of no etsy search or google views, I reworked my tags and still no interest from Google and only a few from etsy search. Most of my views are from activity and teams.
