Why you are not getting found newbies

Things are tough when your category has 2,000,000 items, and you have 40.
You must do everything possible to give yourself a chance to be found. I dont see that in threads compalining about low views.
And, it isnt that hard, nor does it take much time to have good tags and titles. Ignore all that constant "tweaking" noise you read about. Do it right the first time, and you can spend the tweaking time making things.

I have learned the following from the Queen of SEO:

1.Your title is not the name of your item. It is a 70 character string whose goal is to get your item found by etsy search.

2. If you cant tell exactly what the item is by reading your tags, your tags stink. Those words are what people search on. If I had a dime for every purple necklace that had neither purple nor necklace in the tags, I would have a lot of dimes.

3. Words in your title must show up in your tags. If Blue scarf is in your title, blue scarf needs to be in your tags.

4. Use as many of the 20 characters in your tags as possible. Blue scarf as one tag is better than blue, then scarf as two tags.

Thank you for the tips, they have been very helpful :) I opened up in August, and unfortunately only average 0-8ish views per day and still waiting for the magic "non-family member 1st sale". I see a lot of my tags getting recorded as keywords, so I am not sure what to change, if anything? Please let me know what you think of my tags/titles and photos. I would also like to know if my item description is too lengthy (would anyone read it?)

Also, you can link items that a customer may buy as a set.

I dont know enough about all the descriptions for clothing types to advise on tags. You woman must go to some specail school to learn the 149 terms for a skirt.

your pics arent bad, I would have a pic of every inch of each item. Buyers of vintage complain a lot in their feedback about unseen defects. If there is a defect, take a closeup of it.

you well sell more when you get more items. a lot of vintage chicks are in the 100s

Thank you so much! Oddly enough, the hip huggers are my #1 viewed items....too bad they were made for stick figures! That is the downside to vintage clothing... it has to fit!

Thanks for posting this and bringing attention to the team, it looks very cool, I joined.

FYI on the stationary vs. stationery thing in the beginning of the thread though: I used to sell stationery and had both spellings in my tags & titles, "Stationery" got me 29 views (All time), the common misspelling "Stationary" got me 288.

If a misspelling is a common mistake that means it is common for the buyer to misspell it as well.

Same for my boutonnieres. Do you know how many people know how to spell it correctly? not very many.. trust me. I have like three different spellings of it in my tags.

I love the leaf earrings, but it is hard to see them with the branch. And you can use 5 pictures.
I would use inches as well as metric measurements.
The necklace with the five bands, could that be called something more specific? Is there a name for that, like five band choker. Your tags are pretty good, but the category is so large that the odds of you being found in the first 5 search pages are not good if you use general descriptions.

your tags and titles are pretty good. If I knew more about jewelry, I could suggest more specific words to use. MAybe some else will chime in.

some listings you are only using one picture. You gotta use more. From different angles. Did you take your own pictures, or did a professional photographer do them? Either way, you have to use five.

your shop is great, and you have a lot of talent. Stick with it.

about the paintings, have you thought about selling prints on etsy?

artyjo.. you have the world by the arse. I shoulda thought about doing something I can make tons of prints from. But I cant draw or paint, so...

You aint using your five pictures!!!!!!! Very necessary for the originals. I would like to see them close up, and at a distance. Do the abstracts look good in other orientations? I would like to see that.

I would also work in pdf and downloadable art in the tags. You really have to pound it into a buyers head that they are buying a pdf.

how about pen and ink art/drawing as a tag?

I know a guy who does this, and he only sells animals. A LOT of dogs. People want their breed, and give it to their kids to color.

in the nonabstract drawings, put the important words first in the title-cupcake/elephant, etc.

get rid of gifts in your tags.

Hey Alex, could you take a peek at my shop? I'm a total noob and I know I'm not that well stocked, but I just signed up for the Shoptimizer site and I got F's on both my SEO and Product cards. :'(

I average about 40-50 views a day, although some days when I'm super active in Teams I usually get around 100.

whats with putting 'etsy" in the tags? Never heard of that. Or ready to ship.
do you get traffic on that ?
I think putting tutu first in the title may help, as that is the most important attribute.

In your shop title, put what you make in there. google crawls that.

flower headband would be a good tag for the Flower Headband

what other occasions do girls wear tutu's??? Use those in the tags
some little girl down the street dresses as a purple princess for halloween. your tutu's look princessy. Use that

some of your pics are too dark

other than that, you are doing fine.

your title has a lot of room to grow

you have :silver and garnet earrings, You can put sterling silver wire wrapped garnet stone, and more words in there. Use 70 characters.

for tags, you have:metal,stone,uk,hook,silver. No one is going to search on those words to find these earrings.
use multi word tags;silver earrings, garnet earrings, silver and garnet, wrapped garnet,curvy earrings. And Make sure every word in the tiltes is in the tags.

the chainmail necklace doesnt have chainmail in either tag or title.blimey
your descriptions for everything are good, that is a great source for your tag and title words.
Your tags and titles are the queens park rangers of tags and titles.

so, fix them, and fortunes will improve.

You do great work. Very distinctive.
love the curviness to your stuff.
I would feel sexy wearring your earrings.

and use inches for dumb Yanks.
