Which background works best for my items?

Hello!
My name is Ashley and I am the owner of KawaiiCreationz. Something has been tugging on my mind for a while now and I wanted to seek some advice. Background advice, that is.

Most of the background are a light pink color. I just recently posted a new item and thought it looked best on a white background. I have been deciding since I opened my shop wether to use the pink background or change it to white. I think white looks more professional but some of my charms just don't look right on white.

Does anybody have any advice on what background would look best with my items? Does the pink background look amateurish?

Thank you Sherry. I am having trouble deciding. I think the white looks clean and perfesional but I also think the pink adds color an depth.

I definitely prefer the white. Any time you use a color background, it will affect the way the colors in your sale item appear..sometimes in a positive way and other times not so much. You have to be very mindful of the way colors interact with each other and pink seems to be exceptionally difficult.

I too prefer the white background...
I too used different backgrounds, such as lace or wood bark, but I have been advised against it... you have to show your item at its best!
In fact I am gradually changing all my photos..

I prefer the white, unless the pink would accent the item (if the item was pink). I think the orange on pink clashes.

Erica, I defiantly know where your coming from. For example, I think this pink/violet background really compliments the snails.

I also prefer white except in the example that you gave with the snails where it is perfect with this purplish background :-)

Thank you so much everyone! You see, I want my shop to look uniform. I don't want one background pink, another one purple, and then one white, ect.

I do think the snails look lovely on the violet background. But I can't say that for my other charms. I experimented with white backgrounds a while back but I didn't think it suited my charms. I think the white background looked bland.

I think your creations call for kawaii colour backgrounds.

Mine are all white. But most of my products are brightly coloured crochet cozies.

One more vote for the white. I know there can be issues with white (as with any background) but of these two, white looks freshest to me.

I think the trouble with the pink/purple background is that it's too close to looking like an photo taken in bad lighting. I like white. I want to see what I'm buying and only what I'm buying, for the most part. Keep the background neutral imo. Cute stuff!

I see where your coming from @GlassBeach. Although I really like the white background, I can't seem to give up the pink.

Would you be more likely to click on an item with a white or pink background?

I dislike white backgrounds because they are so common so I used different background but have also been told that that's a no-no. I just checked the two sellers that shopvaluecalculator says are #1 and #2 on Etsy. No 1, uses various shades of white/gray. No 2 uses many different colored backgrounds. Both have in excess of a quarter million sales.

So it looks like it's just like wearing a print tie with a plaid shirt - do it right and do it with confidence and you will get away with it.

If this listing had a white background I think it would loose a lot of character.

I am still confused on what I should choose! Haha, some users say white is better, but some say the pink looks nice. I think I am going to play around with it and see what I come up with. :-)

Read all the advice, perhaps look at some shops with similar products, and then follow your own feeling!

I prefer white/off white back grounds personally, but I think that whichever you choose (pink or white) as long as the photos are clear and the look is consistent across your shop, it will be fine. And since you can use 5 photos per listing, you can have one background be the first photo and the different background in the other photos.
