What music do you listen to while you make?

Hi there!

When I’m creating, I need to listen to something that will motivate me to keep going. Whether I’m knitting, cross-stitching or baking, I’m always playing records to get myself in the right frame of mind.

Do you listen to music while you make? If so, what kind do you choose? Why do you listen to the songs or artists that you do? Do they amp you up and get you excited to take on the day? Do they drive you to create more? Do you prefer music that calms you when things are stressful? Does it help keep you focused? Do you listen to music that will entertain you when work feels monotonous? Do you like something with a good beat to dance to when you need a little break?

Working while listening to a wide variety of music genres helps keep my creativity flowing. Some days its pan flutes, others its 70's hits or balads, and others it could be deadmau5 or knife party. I find my music choices during my work time are influenced by what I'm working on and vice versa.

Depending on my mood I either listen to Big Band or 80's music but my go to is usually the 80's. "Don't Stop Believing" by Journey is my favourite song.

I have certain music for certain crafts... The whole Elle King "Love Stuff" album for my leatherwork, Glass Animals and Joywave when i need some good background creative vibes for painting or trying new things. Florence & the Machine, Of Monsters and Men, and Metris are my go to for jewelry making!

I love to listen these songs again and again... that helps me to focus on my paintings! Pretty strange selection, maybe, but it works!!

For me, listening to a modern bossa nova station on Pandora. You get a nice mix of Astrid Gilberto, Blue Bossa Nova, Nightmares on Wax, etc. Love it!

Hi well I'm a Christian so mostly I just sing praises to the Lord. I don't listen to music when I'm working. I live with my mom and we work on our crafts together and usually are singing some kind of tune to the Lord.

I dig instrumentals when I work on watercolors; something like Olafur Arnalds (soundtrack for Broadchurch UK), or if I'm working on my Aloha Tropical art, I prefer Hawaiian music cause it reminds me of home. 😊

I don't listen to music often while making, but I'm a huge fan of podcasts. I've even found some podcasts that discuss selling on Etsy!
