What music do you listen to while you make?

Hi there!

When I’m creating, I need to listen to something that will motivate me to keep going. Whether I’m knitting, cross-stitching or baking, I’m always playing records to get myself in the right frame of mind.

Do you listen to music while you make? If so, what kind do you choose? Why do you listen to the songs or artists that you do? Do they amp you up and get you excited to take on the day? Do they drive you to create more? Do you prefer music that calms you when things are stressful? Does it help keep you focused? Do you listen to music that will entertain you when work feels monotonous? Do you like something with a good beat to dance to when you need a little break?

Lately I have been listening to classical music on Pandora. I find it to be both upbeat and calming without creating bothersome ear worms.

I love listening to instrumental music. It seems like I begin to stray or get distracted when I am listening to music with words, as I am painting. I love the Jingle Punks Hipster Orchestra channel on Pandora! Super fun.

I love listening to Casting Crowns, Jeremy Camp, Canton Junction, Todd Agnew, Third Day, contemporary Christian music and praise and worship. It helps me to focus and brings me peace.

I love listening to Desert Island Discs on Radio 4. Slowly working my way through their castaway archive :)

If not listening to the radio, I love having old Poirot and Miss Marple TV episodes playing in the background while I sew.

I love listening to podcasts and sometimes books on tape while creating - right now listening to Year of Yes by Shonda Rhimes.

Also really into the new Adele album right now, it is amazing!

I have a "studio mix" with songs from the 80's, 90's and now. It takes away the quiet during the day and blocks out family noises 😉 at night.

I listen to Creed on IHeartRadio when I'm posting typically. It inspires me and makes me think more clearly when I'm taking pictures and posting new listings :)

Music takes me away to a deeper level and a happier place where my concerns and worries melt away while allowing the flow of creativity. From wrap, country, hip hop, top 40's, jazz, rock n roll so many to mention. Love it all.

As a photographer I don't listen to music when I'm in the field with my camera gear -- unless you count the sounds of nature, which can be a stream, a waterfall, bird song, woodpeckers, etc. and is very beautiful music indeed -- but when I'm at my computer processing the pictures I often have classical music streaming online from WQXR, New York's classical music radio station.
