What music do you listen to while you make?

Hi there!

When I’m creating, I need to listen to something that will motivate me to keep going. Whether I’m knitting, cross-stitching or baking, I’m always playing records to get myself in the right frame of mind.

Do you listen to music while you make? If so, what kind do you choose? Why do you listen to the songs or artists that you do? Do they amp you up and get you excited to take on the day? Do they drive you to create more? Do you prefer music that calms you when things are stressful? Does it help keep you focused? Do you listen to music that will entertain you when work feels monotonous? Do you like something with a good beat to dance to when you need a little break?

What are some songs or artists you often play in the studio? Share your thoughts and music recommendations in this thread!

I do love my country. Although when making jewelry, I'll usually go with something like Alison Krauss since she's so relaxing. Add a cup of tea, and I got a perfect day going!

I love listening to ambient music while working.
I really like techno and electronic music, but it will cause me to make mistakes. I sure don't want that.

It varies by mood, but usually 80's music.. That was the best decade of my life with so many good memories it makes me happy

We listen to something different every day. From Classical to New Age to Pink Floyd. But Fridays? Fridays are for Reggae :)

Smooth Jazz - mostly sax, but LOVE Brian Culbertson, a pianist and trumpet player, sometimes at the same time, although he can be more on the funk side of jazz so can get me wound up. Mindy Abair is a great sax player as well as Boney James - sexy sax. Also listen to Motown, easy rock, and classic rock - Fleetwood Mac, Eagles, Moody Blues, REO, Journey, Eric Clapton and many more than bring back great memories of great concerts.

I love music, need it all the time when crocheting, cooking, writting...I have my own youtube channel with more than 700 faves like EClapton, RStones, JorgeBenjor(Brazilian) many many others :)

As an amateur horn player in a community orchestra, I will sometimes listen to what ever music is scheduled for the next concert so I have it in my head. But more often than not, I will have a movie on in the background while I work. The visual and noise fill the house just right for my liking, and I don't mind watching the same movie two or three times in one week, sort of like listening to the same album or song list over and over. Lately, I have chosen The Others in honor of the season, or Into the Woods. Any suggestions?

I usually pick a Pandora station, right now I have Iron and Wine. Sometime in November, I will start listening to Christmas music, I particularly like Celtic Christmas music.

BBC radio 2 and BBC radio 4. I like to have discussions in between the music.

I sing with a 4 part harmony female choir and so if I'm listening to just music its usually my song list for the week and I'm usually singing along!

I like to listen to moody music most of the time. Right now it's Aretha Franklin's Jazz to Soul. It was recorded before I was even born. But I just love it! And I've been repeating the new Adele "Hello" and cannot wait for the full album release. Starting mid November, it will be all Christmas music.

I listen to sermons actually online. I like John Hagee or Joyce Meyers. If I am not listening to those I am usually on You tube trying to learn a technique of some kind :) In the evenings I watch Netflix while doing a project .... always busy.

I usually have the radio on during the day, I feel like I've got a bit of company that way, and it keeps me entertained, then in the evening I'll have the tv on in the background - sometimes a film, if it's something straightforward like knitting that I'm doing.
