Turning Views into Sales

The number of views I get is not huge, but I am satisfied with it. I get included in treasuries. I get favorited a lot (both items and shop). I am using a number of ways found throughout this team and the forums to market and that seems to be bringing people in at a rate that is okay for now.

How do I turn these into sales?

Maybe it is my shop? My prices? My items? My photos? My descriptions?

I don't know.

What do you guys recommend? What have you done to turn lookers into customers?

Re: Turning Views into Sales

I am so with you on everything you've said!! I need help too!
I think you are doing pretty good having 6 sales in two months. Food online is a tough category although your confections look delightful! Maybe have a section for reviews for those that have bought so the new customer knows how they taste! :)

Re: Turning Views into Sales

Have you tried a BNR treasury? (Buy and Replace) Maybe a great way to market for you......
Yummy!

Re: Turning Views into Sales

@Amy - I've been watching BNRs but I am trying to find one I want to buy into. I want one full of showcased items that I would want to look at along with my candies (does that sound crazy?) but one that doesn't already have treats in it. =)

Re: Turning Views into Sales

I am in the same boat as you mrsnepsy. I have had my shop open for a few months now and am doing okay but would love to do better. I have items with over 200 views but just can't seem to get customers to take the leap into buying either. I have been in several BNR's recently that I was invited too and got very few views and no sales. The advice I got on it was to have items in my shop that are listed for under $5 like destash supplies. I wish you the best of luck!

Re: Turning Views into Sales

Mrs nepsy, I wouldn't wait for it to flatter your product. Once you buy in the items around you are going to change anyways. :) One suggestion is to find a BnR with a lot of traffic.
Unicorns BnRs and The Late night Queens are among some of the busy ones with usually around 30 sales in 3 hours. Much better chances! I am on their e-mail list for when they open, that way I don't have to go looking all the time.
If you convo me, I don't mind letting you know when they start. :) That goes for anyone.

Re: Turning Views into Sales

Hi, I just scanned your shop and I think you might want to play some with the photography. Some of the items are indistinguishable--for instance, the Nutter Butter Bark--without the title it would be difficult to tell what it is. Maybe you can use a close up lens to highlight the nuts and chocolate. Also, you sometimes use dark backgrounds with a dark product. Perhaps trying a variety of colors to see what works best. Finally, I shoot products in a number of ways and then pick the best when all is said and done--it can be helpful to have others look at your images and try to describe back to you what they are seeing. Then you can go back and correct problems.

Re: Turning Views into Sales

I think the look of your shop as a whole is good. I would try taking a few new photos on some really crisp, modern plates, like round or square white ones. The plainer the plate, the better, I think. That way your dark items really pop out and the detail will be more evident.
good luck,

Re: Turning Views into Sales

I too love your shop and agree with the above. Photography is the key! Make those items pop! Crisp photos, better backgrounds... I would suggest getting rid of the napkins. Make the first picture crisp and clean without the items being cut into.. then show the inside of the item in your second pictures. Check out other bakery pictures and see how they display the item.. Love your shop and your items.. just need to work on the presentation of your items. Like we all do... That is my most difficult part of my shop!

Re: Turning Views into Sales

I would love any feedback. I'm a nubie to etsy and am wondering how to get viewers to buy. I have purchaced several showcases, posted a coupon, added circles and still no sales. Viewership is okay but could be alot better. Any suggestions would be much appreciated. Thanks!

Re: Turning Views into Sales

Thanks for all of the photography suggestions. I have been working on my photography and have made some improvements that show up in my newer items. However, my problem is I don't have the items sitting around all of the time since they are perishables. I will have to wait to make them again before I can photograph them again. =(

And also thank you for the hints on the best BNRs. I was really trying to feel them out before jumping in, but with these great suggestions, I feel I can look more specifically now.

So much help! Thanks!

Re: Turning Views into Sales

For BNR's Unicorn is probably your best bet. She has had anywhere from 15-41 sales in each of her recent BNR's. You can contact her and ask her to add you to the e-mail list.

Unicorn is usually followed by Lucy who also has a lot of luck. Ranging from 10 to 38 sales in recent BNRs. Unicorn and Lucy share a mailing list.

In recent BnRs The late night queen has had between 10-26 sales per round. You can contact her here...

Re: Turning Views into Sales

Do you think there is any reason for me to contact these BnR's since my jewelry is expensive by BnR standards which usually require a minimum of $4 purchase. I love the BnR I belong to but have not generated any sales through it, but the people are nice. Can you suggest a BnR that might work for me?

Re: Turning Views into Sales

I do think your shop is grea - I would change some of the photos. Maybe some closeups?? Believe me, I am NOT a good photographer and I wish mine werre better but that's really the only downside I can see in your shop.
There is a BNRAddicts team - it is great and BNR's are fun - I have done a few.
