Trying to sell more? Google Image Search Your Listings!

Hey everyone!
I uncovered something really awesome that could help you with your shop! It has to do with SEO (Search Engine Optimization) and where you fall with your content for your listings.

1) Go to one of your listings (start with one of your more popular items first.)
2) Right click over the first image in your listing, and it will say towards 'Search Google for this Image.'
3) It will bring you to Google, and show you relevant places you're showing up!

I tried this because I sell Vintage items, and I was curious to see if I could find a comparable item via Google. Turns out I can't find the same item, AND I'm showing up in a ton of places on Etsy and a bunch of other sites (Pinterest, Blogs, Etc.,) which is awesome for your SEO (Search Engine Optimization) and it's showing how well your content is working for you. Which in turn SHOULD be helping you sell more.

If you don't understand SEO, think of it as a Spider trying to spin a web. The more your product is showing up, the larger the web becomes, which makes it stronger and will become larger and larger, which again SHOULD sell you more items. It works for both Vintage and Handmade shops, but it works a little better for Handmade.

On top of all of this, the links you do show up in, you can click on them and it will show you which page you show up! (This is an Etsy.Com link reference.)

I've uncovered the less you're showing up on this image search, the less your content is working for you. So I would suggest looking at items that aren't selling very well in your shop. Try tweaking your Key Words and your Body Content. It SHOULD be able to help you!!

Another great thing is that this can work for both Vintage shops and Handmade Shops!

Wow! Thanks for sharing this tip! I found it didn't work on Firefox but did work on Chrome. I especially loved the way you could quickly find other similar items!

Pamela, this is how it works in Firefox:
- rightclick the image and choose 'copy image location';
- in Google click the little camera in the search bar (image search) and paste that location.

Ooh, awesome! I was just trying to figure out how to do this today, to check and make sure my images aren't being stolen and misused.

Visual artists, take note! You can use this to Google search your images and make sure people aren't infringing on your copyright and selling your work as their own. :)
