Does anyone else write your customers a thank you note following deilvery of their item? I currently send an e-mail to my customer the day following delivery to thank them and open up an opportunity for them to contact me if they have any issue with their purchase. However, I am wondering if a handwritten note would be a better manner in which to follow?
I included a handwritten note with purchases, and send an email when the item ships, but do not follow up afterwards. I feel like, for me, those two actions are enough, but it may depend on product, shipping, etc!
It's nothing like getting a hand written note. Emails are so impersonal. Writing a hand writing note, says alot for a person. That you really thought about your customer. Great idea to start this conversation!
I send a handwritten note with the items, but I also send them a message, or email, when I have shipped the item and add a thank you into that message. This is what other shops have done for me, and I really appreciate it.
I've been starting to include hand-written notes with my orders. Since I make cards, I actually have a lot of fun using my scrap pieces to make note tags!
Recently, I've also been sending thank you convos just to say thanks and that an order has been shipped.
I email to confirm that I received their order and will be shipping it soon. Then I include a handwritten note with each order. I don't know, something about handwritten notes. As a buyer, it speaks volumes to me that a seller took time out of their busy schedule to stop and think about where and to whom their item is going. It's one more thing that makes buying on Etsy so much better than major retail stores :)
I always do the whole email at every step but I also do a little handwritten note, even a simple thanks, hope you enjoy! is always nice. it always makes me feel more appreciated and like I'm getting something from a real person when I get one!
i have never thought to email, but i enclose a postcard with one of my illustrations on the front and then write a hand written thank you on the back addressing them by there name. I always think what would i like when i buy something, i put myself in a customers view, and i think a thank you note is a nice personal touch
I email to let them know I've got the order then I email to let them know a tracking code and I include a hand written thank you note. And I say thank you in each and every one. I feel like I'm being repetitive, but I just want them to know how much I truly appreciate them buying something from me.
First and foremost I always send a "thank you" when the order is placed....then I send a "thank you" with the shipment!! Customers like to be acknowledged!!
I send a thank you for your order email and give a day that I will be shipping. With each order I include a hand written note. I have been doing this since I opened. One person even left feedback about it.
I send a convo when I've shipped their item and give them a special coupon code for Returning Customers. I also include a couple of For a Friend business cards with a coupon code in their package. And a handwritten thank you on the back of my business card. I'm thinking of making a postcard to put in as a thank you, but will have to decide how to design it.
I think a handwritten note saying thank you is very important and personal. Adding that to the email advices along the way makes shopping on Etsy that much more personal.
I agree with everybody here. Hand writtennotes are personal and they remind buyers what sent them to Etsy in the first place -you the want for hand crafted items made by real people.
It is always good to send an email when the item is shipped - shows owner competence :)
I think a handwritten note is a wonderful touch, particularly when you're just starting to build your business. I guess it depends on what you're selling and how many sales you expect per day/week. If you're selling 10-15 items/day, a handwritten note might seem like a giant time suck, but if you're like me and you're happy with selling one or two paintings a week, writing a note seems like a great way to connect with customers without a huge time commitment.
i actually have pretty awful handwriting. i just send em a quick thank you and smiley face on the back of my business card along with a couple of convos thru etsy. works great for me!
I keep in touch with an email just to make sure everything got there in 1 piece and they were satisfied. I also make up a simple thank you card because I'm a hand written type of person. I like hand writing letters much more than I enjoy type.
