Shop views vs. Listing Views

Today I had many more shop views than listing views. Is this bad? Are they coming to my shop and then not seeing anything they like? Why would so many people just come to see my shop?

Any suggestions of getting shop viewers to look at my listings?

Thanks. I am pretty new to Etsy so don't understand all the differences yet.

Re: Shop views vs. Listing Views

I get the opposite, listing views, not shop views. I'm new to this all as well. I will tell you I think your photos are a bit dark. Do you think you could lighten them up. I think your cobalt blue jewelry is very beautiful and would show nicer on a light background.

Re: Shop views vs. Listing Views

I agree with Brenda - it is hard for me to see the detail, color, etc. of your lovely jewelry in your pictures. It could be that people come to your store, but because they can't see the items in the photos well, they just move on. There is a reason that bright white backgrounds are popular - the buyer can see clearly what they are potentially going to buy. It doesn't seem quite fair that sales can depend more on a photo of our products than the product itself, but when one can't see it in real life, it is so important to have a good photo. Good luck!

Re: Shop views vs. Listing Views

When Im shopping if I like a listing, I go to the shop and if the first page has stuff I like I just scroll through the whole shop instead of looking at sections or listings. So maybe it was a good thing, they like all your stuff and kept looking.

Re: Shop views vs. Listing Views

Would you guys mind giving me some feedback on my photos? I'm having the same thing happen-way more shop view that listings. I tried harder with my newest listing, the flower burlap canvas, so let me know if that wa an improvement or if I should be doing something different. I'm planning to retake pictures of my other inventory soon. Thanks!!

Janet, I would suggest more close-up shots. It looks like many of your photos are from the same distance. Switch it up with some long view and some macro shots to show detail and add interest. You have some really pretty items! From other threads, I am learning that the titles for your items need to really focus in on keywords. You may want to take a look at yours and see if they need tweaking.

Re: Shop views vs. Listing Views

Lauren, your photos look pretty good, though some seem a bit out of focus. That is the hard part about getting those close ups! I would suggest more items in your shop. I have found that having at least 20 items listed does bring in more traffic. I am still working on all these things myself, so I am preaching to the choir! But it does help me to look at other shops and then look at my own to see where I can improve! You have a nice variety of items!

Re: Shop views vs. Listing Views

Thank you for the suggestions. I will continue to work on my photos and titles. I think they are better than they were when I first opened as they are brighter but I think adding more interest and changing them up is good.

I appreciate you taking the time to look at my shop and welcome any other thoughts.
