Shipping Profiles and Listing Variations.

Ahhh so I just spent weeks taking these beautiful photos of scarf sizing options! I was very excited that I was able to add pricing to different listing variations. But THEN I see I can't designate a shipping profile to each pricing option. I'm not sure what to do because shipping prices vary between sizes quite a bit! From $3-$9 domestic and $12-$17 for international shipping to Australia for example. :( Anyway around this????

I was doing things the old fashioned way before. Creating a listing for every size and color. But I wanted to give customers the option to choose size, color within one listing! It doesn't look like I can do that without losing or taking too much money in shipping.

What have you all done? I know I can't be the only one with this problem.

Re: Shipping Profiles and Listing Variations.

I'm not sure I understand... I assume you're saying it costs more to ship a larger scarf?

I would make separate listings, with links within the listings for alternate sizes. Otherwise, you could charge max shipping and refund the difference, though that doesn't seem like the best option.

Re: Shipping Profiles and Listing Variations.

Yes that is what I have been doing. I have different listings for different sizes, but now there is an option to have listing variations, say S, M, and L, and within each variation I could put different prices. My scarves are Small (light) and Oversized (heavy). So yes a bit of difference in weight therefore cost....

Re: Shipping Profiles and Listing Variations.

Most of not all of my items have variations. Every since etsy did the the whole pricing thing ... I've started doing that too. It awesome.

For your question it's one shipping price per auction. Just choose the highest you could have in your description that you can give a discount for shipping on smaller items and if the buyer is interested they will contact you with more info.

Re: Shipping Profiles and Listing Variations.

I would suggest that you set your listings up based on the shipping charges.

Put all your lightweight scarves in one listing, medium weight in another and heavier ones in a third.

In each listing you can put a link that says This scarf is available in a heavier weight at .............

I've found that the fewer variations within a listing the better, simply because if I'm purchasing a heavy scarf in red for example I want to see that exact piece before I purchase.
