Set a Goal for August

Hi there,

August is upon us. What will your goal be in this month often associated with vacations? Is your goal this month to push on ahead, starting your preparations for the holidays? Or perhaps your goal is to relax, take a break, and gain some energy with which you can approach the upcoming busy season.

No matter what your goal, setting a specific one and sharing it with others can help you accomplish more. For the last two months we invited sellers to set a goal and share it with the team. Take a look at last month's thread ( https://www.etsy.com/teams/5002/etsy-success/discuss/14828939/page/1) where you'll see many sellers reporting they reached their goals or made some progress they felt good about. For some easy inspiration, take a peek towards the end of the thread.

Take a moment to settle on your goal and then share it here. By writing it down and sharing with others, you'll reinforce your commitment to it.

A goal can be anything from listing a new item to reaching your 100th sale.

The googles told me!
I was looking for clothing and i try to sell my item in here

my goals in end of august :
1. reach 100 viewing my shop
2. sold a little item

We just opened our shop last week and had our first sale. Our goal is to reach 1,000 views by the end of the month, we currently have about 500 views. It would also be fantastic to get one more sale!

I reached 25 items and have second page now yay:)!
sine they are all one of a kind earring it is not easy....lol
Aug goals are
1. To upload 3 more items!
2. To have 1000 views! now at 951!

I've opened my shop in january 2014 but I really started to work actively on it in the august. I've improved lots of things- from titles, tags, adding policies today :) (it was easier than I thought) to adding much more product and working on photography. I have about 20 items which I've already photographed and going to add to my shop soon.

So my goal to the end of august: to add at least 7 items with improved photos in PS and interesting descriptions.

At the end of the wire, but I made my August sales goal! The listing goal - not so much. But here's hoping for a good weekend. I plan on cleaning because my son comes home on Sunday and I don't want him to see that I've been living like a slob.

Update on August Goals - 8/30;

Probably the last for the month.


1. 125 listings by August 31; I'm starting at 117. 8/30: 132!

2. Get Wholesale up and running by the end of August. I’m almost ready, but still hesitating. I’ve been working on my policies so I'll be ready when the time comes.

3. My third sale; my fourth if I’m lucky. No progress here; I'm still waiting for sale #3. It's frustrating; you try everything you know, but it's out of your hands.

4. Followers
a. Goal was 300 on Etsy. Started at 249; 8/30: 313!
b. Wanted 55 on my main website; 8/30: stuck at 49
c. Thought 20 was reasonable for theiPhoneographyBlog. 8/30: stuck at 17

5. One meaningful blog post a week on each blog. I was posting about every other week. I've picked up the pace but no new followers yet.

6. Temporarily off the list: Fine Art America and Society6. First, I ran into a banking issue. Then I found out my current images don't have enough pixels for the products I want to offer. I've upgraded my camera, but it will take time to create new images that are as nice as the current ones.

7. Participate more on my teams. I’m doing more with my promotions team. The others, not as much.


As anyone reading this can see, it's been a mixed bag this month. I've done well in some areas, and not so much in others. In other words, it's been a typical month. The thing about goals is realizing that you shouldn't meet all of them all the time. If you do, you need more challenging goals.

My goal is just to find my old happiness and zest I had for painting before I had my surgery and respiratory infection! It's been a tough year!

I love to design and share with my customers and friends the new creations from my heart and mind and have just finished two sets of wine glass flutes! YAYYYY!

My August goals:
1. Retake photos of items in my shop. Nope. Procrastinated too much. Should have knocked this one off early.
2. 70 items in my shop. Didn't happen. Unrealistic goal for me. Other priorities took over. I fell behind, then lost my momentum.
3. Social media campaign blitz. I really tried, but failed this one, too. Lack of analytics, underestimating the amount of time to find and schedule diverse content, and virtually no change in engagement knocked this one to the curb.
I'm on the road to Loser City. Maybe I should just wing it like so many others do.

Goal update!

I successfully completed my goals of creating 5 each of my 3 best sellers (Thanks Etsy for including that goal in an Etsy Success email! That was a fun day and there is nothing like Etsy sharing your goal with everyone to get you motivated!) and stocking up on shipping and packaging materials for the holiday season. It feels great to be a little ahead of the game this year!

I'm still working on my goals for photography (model shots) and wholesale (one new account). While I did get a postcard mailing out to prospective shops I am still looking forward to my next wholesale account.

I loved reading about everyone's goals and successes this month!

I got a little excited with my goals this month, and made them way too big, haha. But I did exceed my #1 goal of getting my first sale - I got three! :D I also upped my listings and learned a lot about SEO. So I'm currently improving tags and titles.

I already have my (much more realistic) goals set for next month. Bring it on, September! :)

I joined Etsy back in 2007 but did not get serious until about three years ago. I set a goal on the first of August to (1) exceed all of my prior sales goals, and (2) to reach 600 sales. Tonight I heard my phone cha-ching and jumped up and down. I made goal number 1. Right now that puts me at 599 sales! Now I wonder if I might make one more sale in the night??? Doesn't matter. Close enough!!! I love Etsy for keeping me excited and enthused about my work. Thanks Etsy!!!

I reached all my August goals! Having them written down here and in my planner definitely helped keep me on track.
