Set a Goal for August

Hi there,

August is upon us. What will your goal be in this month often associated with vacations? Is your goal this month to push on ahead, starting your preparations for the holidays? Or perhaps your goal is to relax, take a break, and gain some energy with which you can approach the upcoming busy season.

No matter what your goal, setting a specific one and sharing it with others can help you accomplish more. For the last two months we invited sellers to set a goal and share it with the team. Take a look at last month's thread (https://www.etsy.com/teams/5002/etsy-success/discuss/14828939/page/1) where you'll see many sellers reporting they reached their goals or made some progress they felt good about. For some easy inspiration, take a peek towards the end of the thread.

Take a moment to settle on your goal and then share it here. By writing it down and sharing with others, you'll reinforce your commitment to it.

A goal can be anything from listing a new item to reaching your 100th sale.

When sharing your goal for August, please introduce yourself and share how long you've been selling on Etsy.

Come on all, hop aboard the goal train!

Re: Set a Goal for August

It's been pretty slow around these parts as far as sales. So, in August my goal is to add at least one new illustration each week!

Also, work on my SEO and tags and figure out how to get interest in custom portraits back ( I mean, where the hell did it go?)

Here's to a awesome August for everyone! And here's to more sales!

Re: Set a Goal for August

I was thinking about this yesterday and came up with this list:

1. 125 listings by August 31; I'm starting at 117.
2. Learn enough to have Etsy Wholesale up and running by the end of the month.
3. My third sale; my fourth if I’m lucky.
4. Adding to my followers:
a. 300 on Etsy; I'm starting at 249.
b. 55 at www.NancyGoldsteinPhoto.com; I'm starting at 47.
c. 20 at www.theiPhoneographyBlog.wordpress.com; I'm stuck at 13.
5. One meaningful blog post a week on each blog.
6. Getting my images on Fine Art America and Society6.
7. Participate more on my teams, especially the promotion and wholesale teams.

Posting my goals in public makes them more real. I did not make all my July goals but did pretty well. Here's to a good August!

I am on Etsy since April and I am pretty happy as how my shop is going. I have got 18 sales so far.
My goals for August are 3:

hit 25 sales, too much ambitous?
prepare new products to list for fall/winter season
understand what to continue to list and what to leave behind

Re: Set a Goal for August

It's amazing that August is upon us already. I've been on Etsy since 2009 and it's been a wonderful experience. Etsy is a great place and I find that when I put the work in, I see results.

For August my goals are:

1. Reach 800 sales.
2. Have 200+ listings in the Shop by end of August
3. Work on SEO 3 days a week
4. Curate 3 Treasuries a week.

"To accomplish great things we must not only act, but also dream; not only plan, but also believe"
Anatole France

Here's to a fantastic August.

Re: Set a Goal for August

Lol, reading Dori, it was like reading some of my August goals!

I've been here since 2006, changed directions and names and time off in those years of Etsy. :)

At any rate, my goals are:

~ Reach 820 sales
~ Get headway on reaching 200 items in my shop. I'm at 168. I'd love to get in the high 180's to low 190's by the end of August.
~ Get up to 1000 likes on my Fb page
~ Figure out how to do a successful giveaway through Facebook

Re: Set a Goal for August

I was actually up last night thinking about my goals for this month. Couldn't wait for today to roll around so i could write them down.

1. Retake photos of my aprons, checkbook covers, and cloth napkins so the sections are cohesive and each listing has at least one image of the product in a natural setting.

2. Have 70 items in my shop. (I have 54 now, and two completed that need to be listed. This leaves me with at least 14 new items to make, photograph, and list.)

3. Create a social media plan of action for twitter, pinterest, facebook, and my blog.

4. Continue working on my blog. (This one is less specific, as I'm not sure yet how my progress will go.)

Over the weekend I will be writing each out in S.M.A.R.T goals and posting them on my wall. I'm also going to make a bar graph and a large social media calendar to help me stay on track. Plus, I'll be putting it all out there on my blog, LovinTheGoodOleDays.blogspot.com, just in case anyone wants to hold me accountable. (We all need that little nudge sometimes, eh?)

Oh, I've been on Etsy since July of 2010.

Re: Set a Goal for August

Hi all, it's been a while since I've written down any monthly goals, so here it goes!

1. Get model shots for at least 20% of my items (not counting rings, those are easy to do myself!) in the shop.

2. Make 5 each of my 3 best sellers to begin to prepare for the holiday season.

3. Reorder packaging and supplies to prepare for holiday.

4. I would love to pick up one new wholesale account in August and have a postcard mailing scheduled to go out next week.

It's great to see everyone's goals! Good luck!

Re: Set a Goal for August

Yay!!!! August goals. My July was fantabulous. Not only did I reach my goals, but I also hit 2 milestones - 100 listings and 50 sales!

So, for August, my goals are:
1. get to 150 listings
2. get 1 sale

Completely doable. But this weekend will be a wash because I have my first craft show of the season tomorrow.

Re: Set a Goal for August

Hi everyone, happy August!
My shop has been open since June and I set my 1st goal last month which I achieved, I'm very pleased with that and think the fact that I had it written down here helped me stick at it!

Two goals for August:
1 - Have 12 Christmas/Winter themed prints listed in my store.
2 - Design and make/source my Christmas packaging.

Good luck to everyone :)

Re: Set a Goal for August

Hello!

My shop has been open for just under two weeks. August goals are primarily focused around expanding my selection of items to include more new illustrations. I'm also developing a card line that will be in the shop by autumn!

Re: Set a Goal for August

My main goal is to get my shop stocked up for September. I have been working hard at getting mittens made now I need to get some slippers done up too.

This summer has been very, very slow but I know once September I will be non-stop through Feb. Trying to be more prepared this year, last year I didn't have enough mittens and couldn't keep up with the demand.

Re: Set a Goal for August

I managed to reach my sales goal last month, and I listed new items each week.

This month, I'm really, really, really (really!) excited to see if I'll reach 250 sales. I had one sale today, so we'll see!

I just hit my 6th Etsy anniversary this past month, too. Exciting!

Re: Set a Goal for August

My August goals are to have my VERY FIRST SALE!! (and more!) To revisit my SEO and tags, and design and add at least one item per week. Also time management.

I am glad to be able to list these here so I can really be accountable for these goals. Looking forward to an amazing August and I will certainly keep everyone in the loop!

Thanks!!
