Set a Goal for August

Hi there,

August is upon us. What will your goal be in this month often associated with vacations? Is your goal this month to push on ahead, starting your preparations for the holidays? Or perhaps your goal is to relax, take a break, and gain some energy with which you can approach the upcoming busy season.

No matter what your goal, setting a specific one and sharing it with others can help you accomplish more. For the last two months we invited sellers to set a goal and share it with the team. Take a look at last month's thread ( https://www.etsy.com/teams/5002/etsy-success/discuss/14828939/page/1) where you'll see many sellers reporting they reached their goals or made some progress they felt good about. For some easy inspiration, take a peek towards the end of the thread.

Take a moment to settle on your goal and then share it here. By writing it down and sharing with others, you'll reinforce your commitment to it.

A goal can be anything from listing a new item to reaching your 100th sale.

I've been thinking about changing my business name. It's now or never! My main focus has shifted from stones and crystals to watercolor, and I feel a new name may be in order.

I went on vacation August 1-10, came back on the 11th and reopened- not one sale yet. I added 25 new items to the shop though. :) I have another 100 items to get listed for the Xmas rush. Antiques and vintage seem to take a nap in August!

My goal for August is to get 100 items listed by the end of the month. I have been working on creating many items and I am pretty close to 100 but I need to start listing them!

Hi! I'm new! :) I thought this was a good place to jump in!
My goal for August is to get myself "ready to go" for when the kids go back to school in a couple weeks.
That way I will have my routines in place or ready to go and can really dig in!
I'd like 1 more sale too before the end of the month.

Hi! This weekend i had 4 sales in a row!!!! my previous goals for this month were:
improve photos on my listings
improve my tags
translate my descriptions to spanish
reach 40 listings
have at least 4 sales

I also improved my photos, so this are the new goals for this month:

I've been selling on Etsy since April 2012. After a two-week vacation in the beginning of August, the shop is pretty quiet!

My goal for the remainder of the month is to work on my social media!
* at least one Facebook post per week
* tweet every new listing
* participate in teams and forums!

I was away at the beginning of the month so goal for august has been getting back on track - networking, getting my work out there, posting on facebook, twitter and on etsy and hopefully make another couple of sales through etsy? I get excited every time I get a sale! =D xx

My goal for the next month, from August 18 - September 18, is to surpass the 500 sales mark. I am at 424 as of right now, I just added many cute Frozen theme party paper goodies (name banners, thank you tags, favors, etc) and I am hoping those will do well!! I have also revamped my Halloween favors and think those will do great also. Good luck to everyone, I hope we all meet and surpass our goals!!

2. Revamp my shop sections.

3. Start a new collection.

4. Become more involved on my Etsy teams, communities, and forums.

Since August is half way over my goal will be from now til the middle of September. My goal is to have 100 items listed (right now I have 74) and to reach 30 sales (right now I have 23).

My name is Kim and I started kimberleeannPrims in 2012. Things had been slow until July when sales began coming in.

I recently signed up for Etsy Wholesale and prior to being accepted this past week, I received two wholesale orders so one goal will be to promote this new side of kimberleeannPrims!

Goal 2 will be to reach 40 sales by the end of August and my last goal will be transitioning to Christmas products by the end of the month which means I need to complete the large wholesale order....that goal may get stretched into September:)

Team participation has been on the back burner all this month which in one sense is a good thing because it means I have been busy stitching and grunging and yet, I find I miss keeping up with the shops. Maybe I can work that into a goal for next month:)

My goal for August was to take new pictures of my jewelry, better pictures with my new camera :), but life seems to keep getting in the way! I thought if I shared my goal on here it would help me find time to take those pictures, I still have a couple of weeks after all.

Hi! We are Cristina & Robério, from raizesimaginarias. We started in Etsy like two years ago, but I did not take it seriously until this month!!

I read this thread at the beginning of the month and set my goals although just mentally... - now i'll write them down!

1. Reach 100 listings -i was around 20 when I decided to give etsy shop a push- ... and I did it today :)

2. Read as many articles as possible about how to improve the shop: pictures, SEO... - i'm reading a lot!! -

3. Improve the pictures -working on it-

4. Start having sales - this week we got two! -

Arriving to the end of the month... I'm quite happy with the results of those goals that were in our hands :) I worked a looooooooot on our etsy page almost daily! And expecting to still improve number 4 until the end of the month!

Update on August Goals

August is not going like July, when I exceeded most of my goals. I did a little work on last month’s goal to update some images, and I exceeded the number of Etsy followers I wanted. The rest... not so much.

1. 120 listings by August 31; I'm starting at 117 (+3). Original goal of 125 was not realistic. OTOH, I'm making excellent progress on last month's goal of updating the last of the oversharpened images. My new goal is to replace them by the end of the month. New work will have to wait until September.

2. Get Wholesale up and running by the end of August. Not going to happen; I have to re-organize listings by the size of the photo so I can build in quantity discounts; then I have to alter my policies to incorporate the wholesale pricing. Postponing to September or October.

3. My third sale; my fourth if I’m lucky. Still waiting for sale #3. Doing extra promotion to try to make it happen. Out of my hands.

4. Adding followers:
a. 300 on Etsy. Started at 249; at 309 as of today! Yippee!!!
b. 55 at www.NancyGoldsteinPhoto.com; Started at 47; 49 as of today.
c. 20 at www.theiPhoneographyBlog.wordpress.com; Stuck at the same 13 followers I started with. This will only change if I post more often.

5. One meaningful blog post a week on each blog. Posting about every other week right now; I'm job hunting.

6. I've taken one off the list for now: I'm not going to get my images onto Fine Art America or Society6 any time soon. First I ran into a banking issue, which I resolved. Then I found out my current images did not have enough pixels for the products I want to offer, so I can't use them. I've upgraded my camera but will take time to create new images that are as nice as the older ones.

7. Participate more on my teams. I’m doing more with my promotions team, since it’s the most likely to pay off. Not really doing much with the others.

1. 50-100 hearts (item + shop) daily
2. 150 views (shop + listings) daily
3. Reach 175 sales (7 to go)
4. Maintain approx. 200 listings
5. Make effective use of a few new social media platforms I've been researching (or at least, set things in motion with respect to this)
