Same Item in 2 Dif Shops??

Is it just me or is this against the rules of Etsy? I was working on a treasury and noticed a familiar picture. Behold I seen it from another shop. I was just curious how this works or if this okay. Thanks! Sorry if this is in the wrong place.

If the same person owns both shops and has multiples of the same item (or can remake the item) then I think it's fine.

Was it exactly the same photo?
Maybe one of them is copying the others photos? Which would not be good. But if this is the case whos photo was it first?! They would need to know.

It is the same person, just thought it was weird. But I guess it makes sense if they can duplicate the item. I don't come across this very often why I thought I would ask.

I think I have a few duplicate items but prints in one and originals in the other or different sizes of the same product. I wasn't sure which shop to list them in and once I paid to activate it I wanted to let it run the 4 months. Hopefully not against the rules. I will probably only continue with one shop anyway.

It's not okay to list the same item across two accounts, even if the accounts are owned by the same person:

From the Etsy Dos and Don'ts:

"You may not list the same unique item in more than one shop on Etsy."

same "unique" item. I think variations such as size and print vs. original would be fine even if the photos are the same. You can list the same item on your own shop multiple times if you have multiple available so I assume this refers to listing the same exact thing.

It can happen especially if it is the same person. I sell my patterns and yarn in my supply shop so sometimes use the same images as I do from this, my finished good shop.

Also - some people sell the same things in multiple shops.

It is not against the TOU as long as the items listed are actually available from each shop and not marked OOAK.

Looks like someone's trying to make a point with that treasury. I saw a treasury on Regretsy that featured all the same hideous 'vintage' owl on a chain.

Good catch Lincey! Funny for a treasury to list multiple items from same shop - they are all from China - one just opened April 4th and has already had 891 sales! They don't list having another shop - amazing those bracelets are selling like crazy! Did you end up buying one?

I wonder if the buyer for Spencer's shops Etsy? I had a hard time building up my listings to over 100 and even harder time attempting to reach 200...I can't even imagine what it would be like to have 800+ sales a month!

Sindra: Oh no, I didn't buy one! I prefer encouraging people that work hard for their handmade products, like most of us here.
Ashley: The point they were trying to make was about resellers I think. It's pretty obvious the items aren't handmade when different shops offer the exact same ones, plus they don't even bother taking their own pictures.

We can only sell supplies, vintage or handmade. then. Lincey, you found a bigger problem.

This is not right. Have your reported the treausury and the sellers to Etsy? They are taking sales away from REAL artists. This is not eBay...yet.

I really like that all these sellers say in their info that all of these bracelets and jewelry are "handmade by them", and how do they possibly profit from selling something for less than a dollar, especially with international shipping not being that cheap and their shipping isn't very high either? I don't get this at all.

Also I'm mad because I bought a couple of bracelets for friends as christmas gifts and they were $14 each, and now I am seeing these EXACT bracelets on the above sites selling for $2????? It really makes me want to report the shop I originally bought them from, that makes me so mad that I paid so much for something I THOUGHT was handmade and original. Turns out it wasn't. This is giving everyone on etsy a bad name when a large number of us really take this seriously and make all of our own products. Something needs to be done or we are all going to lose this as a handmade site.

I won't call people out on here, I am looking at the same thing in the shop I bought it from here in the US states :

"Created and hand crafted with great care and love for you and yours. All of my items are special handmade creations that are original (name omitted)."

The exact same bracelet, not just the charm but the WHOLE BRACELET appear in numerous of these reseller shops for $2. REPORTING. not that it will help.

They did shoot themselves in the foot by posting a treasury of the same item from 3 diff shops. For sure should be reported.
