SEO Is Ongoing Not A One Time Fix

Just in case you had not figured this out on your own, SEO is an ongoing process. There is not a single one time fix to get seen in the Etsy search and beyond. I wrote an article talking about ways to make sure your SEO is as current as can be. Have a look and share your experience.

Re: SEO Is Ongoing Not A One Time Fix

Thanks for the good reminder! This does make me glad, though, that most of my items are not at all seasonal, and are unusual enough that I don't have to worry as much as, say, a jewelry seller, about being overwhelmed by the competition. Still, I think, when I'm selling pie-making utensils, perhaps some holiday-related tags would be in order.

I could see Christmas, Thanksgiving, etc. cake decorating supplies, if indeed you had them.

So true. I've only been open a month or so, and I can already say with confidence that SEO requires maintenance and practice. Keep tweaking, and when you get a sale, take a look at your stats to see what search may have resulted in that sale. Research is key!

Anyone know of a good SEO guide that specifically talks about holiday listing tweaks?

Thanks,

Dani

I don't know of one but I could certainly write one up on my blog. I'll do it next week with the twitter guide and the Facebook fan page guide.

TangledMetal you've change your avatar. This one is... :-) adorable. I agree, this is an ongoing project. I read your blog. Thanks so much they are very helpful. I was puzzled though, according to my shop stats, I get visitors from the same keyword - tree, eiffel tower, locket.

What baffle me is what about the rest of the items. For example owl, bird, flower, leaf - does it mean I don't get my share of visits from other keywords. Or did I read the stats wrong? :-) Maybe I do

You may get plenty of views and it isn't what people are looking for. A lot of my keywords are the same traffic getters as well. Although every now and then I get a hit from one of my different keywords. Unfortunately the stats only show if you got a click from the keyword search, not if you showed up.

Yes, I changed my avatar. I will end up changing it back but I am doing some experiments at the moment.
