Postage is up again... Are you adjusting your shipping and handling charges?

I think it's crazy that the postage for a 3 oz package has gone up from $2.04 to $2.54!

I always include the cost of handling in my s/h charge, such as thick foam envelopes, boxes, wrappers, tapes, labels and printing cartridges, etc. I just felt it's hard when someone orders a $5 or $10 item and has to pay for $3 or over $3 on s/h. :(

Priority Mail Small Flat Rate Box (Domestic) went from $5.25 to $6.10...
an 85¢ increase!

International first class to Australia went from $6.06 to $13.06 (up to 8 oz.).

Canada $9.03.

UK $12.83.

I wonder if UK's Royal Mail will increase prices this year. I'm dreading it. It's becoming almost the same price to ship to another European country than within the UK! I hope prices stay the same...

Gas prices were down, I don't believe that USPS employees enjoys anywhere close to 10% raise. I don't understand why USPS still loses money especially with the booming on-line biz.

I just think it's harder for US sellers to compete with other countries where the cost of postage rates are significantly lower, maybe it's cheaper for them to ship to U.S. than us ship domestically. :(

I find that FedEx Ground is often much cheaper and faster than USPS, especially for larger boxes (like 18 x 12 x10). If you don't have one, you might want to open a FedEx account to get lower pricing, and then compare it to USPS on larger items.

Just got back from the post office. The things i make are usually too heavy for first class so I've been using regional rate boxes. It wasn't an option today on the usps website. Still an option at etsy but I had to wait in line today at the post office vs. just dropping the box off. Really annoying to have to spend my time in a line. I may have to look into other options.

I was shocked at the increase in postage. Unfortunately I didn't change my rates as soon as I should have and now have to eat the extra costs.
I still use my own shipping profiles because most of my orders are between 1-3 oz so it's simpler.
But I wonder how my customers are going to feel about the increased shipping, especially the international rates. That was a big shock to me. It was bad enough that the in-country rate went up 25% but the international rate went up 96%! That's crazy. I'm afraid I might lose some good international customers.

Do any of you think it would be better to raise prices rather than show the high shipping costs?

I just mailed my first international order for the year and was shocked to find out it went from $7.10 to $13.50!!! And I charged $8 for the shipping for that order.

I highly doubt I'll see international orders anymore. Almost all of my international orders are for one pair of earrings (I don't know why) and they are usually $12. So now it will cost more to pay for shipping than the item itself, which was the case today. And by the way the package weighed less than 1/2 an ounce!

Whoever decided on this price increase needs to think again because they probably just lost a lot of international business.

And this is on the heels of them sending one of my packages (US to the UK) to Mexico and now it's lost. I'm not happy with USPS right now.

I'm just glad the domestic first class shipping price stayed the same for me, it's still $2.54 which is what it was last year.

Actually I've been paying $2.54 since it went up last January. But I don't do shipping labels, maybe that's the difference?
