Hi guys,
need a bit of help or perspective if you please.
If you have a look at my photos what do you think in terms of image quality. I ask this as my camera lens has a scratch, courtesy of small people in my household.
I am pondering a new camera, but to stay safe and well in budget and buy the same camera.
OR should I splurge and treat my self to a SLR??
what do you think? I was told my photos arent bad and that i really dont need to waste time learning a new camera and wasting extra cash that i could instead bank save...what do you reckon?

Re: PHOTS
Hi Frey,
I am in the same boat. However, I decided to hold on and not buy an SLR, until later, when some money comes in and I can justify it.
I checked several of your items. Mainly soft toys and I do have a couple of suggestions.
1. Some of the items made with light fabrics do not show as well. I was thinking that maybe if you change the background to a dark color, they would show better.
Example: https://www.etsy.com/listing/207951824/pink-and-mint-green-pastel-floral-soft?ref=shop_home_active_3
2. Some of the backgrounds in some of your items look like they have a streak of some kind and that detracts from your photos because they look like spots. Examples:
https://www.etsy.com/listing/261651356/dinosaur-plush-soft-toy-dinosaur?ref=related-6
https://www.etsy.com/listing/261546139/dinosaur-plush-soft-toy-dinosaur?
3. You already do this in some of your listings, but I checked other similar items on Etsy, and I thought it would be nice to have photos of the sides, full front and full back, in addition to a close-up of the face.
But, to answer your question, I do not believe you need a new camera at this time and no scratches are apparent to me from looking at your photos. Your photos are very good.
I hope this helps a little.

Re: PHOTS
Oooops! If you could crop those spots, I still think you do not need another camera.
I do not believe a prospective customer would think those spots are caused by a scratch on the camera.
The spots made me think like maybe a little one had tried to "paint" on your background (I assume paper) with butter. Ha!

I would just crop them for now. I agree with Maria. I don't think you need a new camera yet. If you shoot your items a little off to the right, you should be able to crop that left side and make the item look centered. Best of luck. :)

Re: PHOTS
You could use fotofuze.com to take the streak out of the picture.
This tool helps to clear out the backgrounds. It has been really useful for me.

Re: PHOTS
I don't think you need a new camera. The line that's visible in some of the shots can easily be edited out and lots of free photo editing programs out there. Google is your friend for finding the right one, but some are: fotor, paint.net, and fotofuze. Love all the color in your shop!!! Good luck...money best spent on more beautiful fabrics:)
