Mail Question

A customer has asked me to mail her samples of fabric. There are only 5 of them and they can fit in an regular sized envelope.
Is it okay to mail them in a regular envelope with a regular stamp on them? It fits in the envelope and it's the most cost effective route. Downside: it won't have the tracking through Etsy.
Does anyone do that?
There is a "marked shipped" button or something, right? Where I can manually enter that I've shipped the item?? I've always purchased shipping labels through Etsy - so it marks everything automatically for me. I just want to make sure I can clear it on my end that I sent the item.
Thoughts?

Re: Mail Question
I used to hand deliver items that were paid via etsy well before i received my card reader. I used to mark it as shipped and write that it was hand delivered and it sent it to the customer as "shipped."
But as to how you want to send it, its all up to you. If the customer doesn't mind not receiving a tracking number, go right a head. I'm not sure of the protocol with sending samples.

Can you get tracking on snail mail? If I took it to the Post Office? Or is tracking only for packages?

If they are small samples you can send them as a small package and if its 3 oz or less it will only cost you $1.93 if you purchase the postage online. And that includes tracking.
You can either use Etsy or paypal to create the shipping label.

Thanks, Crochetgal!
I ended up giving her the option between standard "snail mail" without tracking and paying the $1.93 so she can have the tracking. :D
