I Reported A Shop......

So I just reported a shop yesterday. They were selling those watches that you can get from pretty much any Asian seller through eBay. The funny thing is how it happened. I run a gig through Fiverr.com where I promote other seller's Etsy shops, make treasuries for them, etc. So this one person ordered and I did not know what to do because they are obviously a re-seller of goods not handmade by herself or anyone "in her shop". I feel so guilty now because I actually promoted her shop!! I felt so bad that finally halfway through me promoting the shop I just reported it. The thing is I don't want to have anything more to do with this seller but now she's asking me how much it would cost for a certain amount of more promotion. I want to get a good rating through Fiverr, but at the same time I don't want to be forced to promote someone who is blatantly going against all that Etsy stands for. How long does Etsy take in removing a shop? Have any of you reported a shop and seen that shop removed not long after the report?

I think I am just going to tell her that I can't promote her shop because of the reasons stated above. She will probably give me a bad rating but at least I can explain in the comments for all to see. What do you all think?

I just wish Etsy would take down the shop so I wouldn't have to deal with it.

Etsy doesn't shut down every shop that gets reported. There's been numerous complaints about resellers on this team and how nothing is done about them. All you can do is tell the seller that because her shop doesn't fall under Etsy's guidelines of selling handmade, vintage or supplies you can no longer promote it.

A shop that isn't creating their own items should get reported, when I first started with Etsy I came across so many of those types of shops and never reported it because I was so new I didn't know what or how to go about it but now I would definitely report.

I have noticed that there are so many shops that resale items, especially jewelry, that it boggs down the feed. It takes away the whole idea of what ETSY is suppossed to be about. The new rules that state you can partner up with manufacters all over the world really has hurt the people that really hand make their products. Bottom line is MONEY. The more listings, the more ETSY makes.

I agree: I would prefer that we try to offer only those items that are either handmade or handcrafted through this site.

To have items being re-sold by the gazillions is not fair to the rest of us.

I'm with you, Michelle! I use Fiverr for other marketing, but never even considered that someone out there might have Etsy specific gigs! Can you sent me your fiverr info too?

I have reported numerous shops for everything from violating rules on what they are selling to misuse of tags. None of the shops I have reported have been taken down. As a matter of fact, nothing was done about them. They are still reselling mass produced items (which is allowed now, but wasn't when I reported them) and using their competitors shops name in their tags. Don't expect anything to be done about them by Etsy.
