How to???

I'm totally confused...
next month (17/6) i have an upcoming show...
but i have a HUGE problem
this time my first solo exhibition and i have serious issues with the presentation

first i've thought that two paravans would be a good idea but i don't have the means to get to the place with them

i have a display box but it's really small and it won't help

any ideas?

Re: How to???

buy a couple of tables and lots of linens. Put the tablecloths on the tables, then put boxes -- any kind, a variety of sizes -- on the tables and cover them with smaller linens. What you want to do is create levels, so that your pieces aren't laying flat. It's cheap, it works great for small/ 3-d items, and it is effective.

Re: How to???

:/
that would be nice but the place has really weird "shape" and a table isn't a option , it's like a realllyyy long hallway
that's why i thought paravans at first :/

Re: How to???

I am probably the only one that doesn't know this. But, what is a paravan?

Re: How to???

I have the same exact problem, I sometimes go to shows and when I look at my booth it just doesn't look as aesthetically pleasing as I wish it would, and I find that plays a huge role in how your work is percieved. I think creating lots of layers is really important and I'm going to try to do that much more next time...I only put a few boxes under the linen that's on my table (which is only one, I think I have to buy more small linens) and I want to add more!
Also, I've seen people use creative ways of displaying their work for instance using those wooden bottle holders you use to stack wine bottles in your cellar, if you know what I'm talking about...that should be pretty cheap!

Re: How to???

sorry, they don't let you have tables there?? Even a narrow one? I would ask the venue how most people display their items. That's a pretty particular situation, imo. If you can't fit a paravan, you might try something like a trellis. But I'd talk to the organizers first to get some suggestions.

Re: How to???

I've also seen people sell jewelry (especially earings) by hanging them on a big black open umbrella, it's cheap and very visual actually, but I guess that only works for certain items...

Re: How to???

A paravan is a room divider / screen - could be 3 panel or 4 panel etc. That's what I think of as a paravan . . .

I would agree w/ Copper Leaf Studios - ask the venue & show organizers how other people show their items and for other suggestions as to displays that will fit the size of your space.
