How does adding new listings improve views and sales?

I know the more items the better, but how does adding new items to your store improve views and sales? Does an item being new increase the chances of coming up in a search? I'm still trying to figure this all out.

It moved you up to the front of the list for a little while increasing your visability. I list new and relist mulitple times every day. It really does help!

Every new item you create and list becomes a link here on Etsy. It IS its own advertisement so to speak.

Interesting. The first 2-3 days I opened my shop, I had over 1000 views and that has gone down quite a bit.

How do you re-list? Do you get charged $.20 each time you re-list?

Oh! Wow. I just renewed my listings. I only renewed when I sold items. So cool that I can do it any time! It did charge me the $.20 per listing but I can see how it is well worth it. It'll be interesting to see if my views improve!

Yes, I definitely notice a difference in views every time I add a new item. Right now, I am still trying to add new items daily instead of relisting because I'm trying to add more and more items to my shop.

@Lindsay - I really want to add some new things, too. I have to fill my orders this week and I'll add some new things next week. I'm chomping at the bit to design some new dolls and accessories!

No Melissa they dont unless you are logged out from Etsy when you are viewing.

When you say "relist," do you mean renew? I just renewed a few of my items in hopes of improving views, and I'm not sure if it's the same thing.

Relist is when you list something after you sell it :)

No it is not pointless. Everytime you renew you bring that item to the forefront. Renewing and relisting are not a waste, but they are not as good as listiing. Google love new listings.

Oh, okay. Thank you. I don't know if it's a coincidence or not but as soon as I renewed 5 of my listings, I had about 15 new views within 5 minutes.
