We haven't joined Pinterest (yet) since we heard it's crazy addictive!
We were curious, though, as to how this site would impact traffic to our shop. We did discover multiple items of our have been pinned, and here's how...
Go to your web analytics
Choose "traffic sources"
Click "referral traffic"
If Pinterest.com is a source, it will be listed on the right.
Click "view full report" on bottom right, then choose "pinterest.com"
You will then have a list of all the referral paths/URLs for the pins.
We only had a couple dozen referrals from these pins so far, so we just copied and pasted "/pin/#######/" after pinterest.com in our web browser, and discovered about a quarter of them were actually our product! Exciting!!!
The other items were somewhat random, but some were similar products on Etsy, so people must have clicked on them then discovered our merchandise by browsing in the same category.
We did notice the "pinit" button by the FB "like" button in the item listings, but a little speech bubble with the number of pins does not appear as the FB "likes" do.
Wish there was a way of being notified when an item gets pinned!
