Has anyone else noticed a drop in sales due to the search feature changing?

I have several shops and often do searches each day to see if my items are being seen. I didn't notice that the search feature had changed and when I went in to see where my items were falling in the mix, I couldn't find them! One of my shops that only sells diaper cakes doesn't even show...I've scanned through 28 pages and my items aren't even there and after 28 pages I gave up.

Then I realized that we have the options of Most Recent, Relevancy, Highest Price, Lowest Price. For some reason it defaults to Relevancy and my cakes don't even show up in the search. A relevant search for diaper cakes should bring up my diaper cakes, but they are nowhere to be found. There are other diaper cakes that come up that were posted back in Jan, but mine that were posted several mintues ago don't show. Most people probably don't notice the search options and so my items will never be viewed. This is really disappointing.

I've had a huge drop in sales in all of my shops where I was having several orders a day, but in the last couple days only 1 sale for all shops combined!

Does anyone know when they will be fixing this?

You know, I was trying to figure out this earlier today. I search for nursery lamps for a lamp that I had just posted and couldn't find it ANYWHERE. What the heck?

The same thing happened to me- I posted a vintage book page card yesterday, then to test it searched for "vintage book page card" and my new listing was no place to be found, although I eventually found pages I had posted 2 weeks ago! Something's wrong.....

I noticed the same thing with my Aluminum jewelry. It isn't showing up when I search for Aluminum. There are 18 pages of it and NONE of mine are there. I know it is in both my title and tags. What gives?

Didn't realize the problems you have mentioned. I just opened 2 weeks ago. Not that I expected tons of sales right off the bat, but this sure doesn't help. Hopefully they will change the way they are doing things.

I don't think its a change in the search Natural.

When I search for 'diaper cake' I find plenty on Etsy using a relevancy search.

I think that part of your problem is that most of your cakes are called 'Japan Disaster Relief something or another' and that is hurting you in the searches.

A relevancy search will bring up exact matches to what is being searched for before it brings up any other items.

One other thing that I noticed was that you are calling your items 'gDiaper Cakes'. That could be part of the problem as well!

Perhaps you are searching to quickly after listing the item? You'll notice when you list or relist an item, a small note will mention that your items may not show up in searches for 24 hours.

My items were listed on April 11th that aren't showing up in the search and yet something else I listed two days ago is showing up. Go figure.

No. I can't even get views and the month prior I was getting sales daily. I think somethings jacked up with their search engine? I've written to them about it. I depend on my etsy business and need to get views as we all do!

I was finally having sales pick up starting in December and was so encouraged by that, yet in the last couple of months, nothing. I was wondering if it was due to all the changes being made on Etsy. Any responses, Admin?

I think the most important thing to do is check your title and tags. Make sure the most important terms are first in your title.

But I also agree that sales are very slow these days. I think that it has to do with the time of year, product you sell, and maybe that Etsy has been tinkering around with the site.

I've seen shops and treasuries that get hundreds of views on the first day. How does that happen?

Something is off for us as well. This us normally a very busy tome of year for us.

I believe the shops and treasuries that seem to be getting hundreds of views on the first day have simply renewed their listings. When you renew your listing you do not lose your original 'view count', but the listing date is updated and your item moves up again tot he first pages for awhile. In short, they may have really accumulated those views over a few months or more.

I have only been on here a few short weeks, but even I have noticed a substantial decline. Not one of my items shows up on google shopping, no matter what I do.

I just looked at my sales totals from etsy for the last 4 years and this April has been the worst sales month since April 2008. My views are way down, and I can't think of why. I haven't changed anything and keep right up to date on my keywords and listings.
Any ideas?

Today I listed an item and within minutes it appeared in a number of searches. My sales and views have been dropping, but I thought perhaps it was due to the season. I've been opened for one a few months, so I have nothing to compare it to. Hopefully things will pick up for all of us.

Glad to hear everyone else is have slow sales and views. I have only been open a few months, but my views were much higher at the start and my sales were at the start. Now nothing even though I have tweaked titles, tags, pictures, etc. Don't know what is going on, but I hope it gets better. :)

My sales were increasing but have fallen flat in the last month and a 1/2. I was wondering if people have slowed down on their purchasing. I noticed that when I go to the store it is costing me more money and have a lot less money left over. Everything is going up in price but my pay check. As we all know, gas has gone up quite a bit. I would be curious to see if Etsy over all has had a decrease in sales the last month and 1/2.

My sales decreased in March and April, I attribute it to the rising cost of gasoline here in the US. We have less disposable cash as a result....it's all going in to gas tank.
