Guide for shipping on Etsy

Can anyone help me with how to calculate shipping costs on Etsy? I trying to keep my costs as low as possible, but I am running into an issue. I find that when I calculate a shipment on USPS.com the cost is higher than it is when I actually go through Etsy to purchase my shipping label.

So I guess basically my question is if Etsy gets discounts on shipping from USPS? I tried looking in the handbook and couldn't find anything. Thanks so much for your help everyone!!!

Have your considered USPS had a rate increase recently? Maybe thats the reason for the cost difference.

You want to use the business/commercial rates on usps.com. Those are the rates Etsy uses.

On the usps.com website it's under the Business Solutions tab. I choose First Class Package Service under Parcel, then Single Piece (and enter 1 for number of pieces). That's what I use, anyway.

I know that they had a rate increase, but why would Etsy still receive a lower rate? I just shipped something today and it is still the same way...
