Gift Certificates

Hopefully this isn't a dumb question...this is my first holiday season and I was thinking of doing gift cards for my shop...any ideas/thoughts on how to work them? I'm having someone make me the cards for my shop, I figured I would just fill them out for the recipient and mail them directly to the reciever...

Am I missing anything else?

how do you list a Gift Certificate to sell

You list them the same way you list any item =) I made mine using paper, gift tabs, ribbon, stamps and printed text. You can design a postcard on Vistaprint and such too, doesn't have to be handmade.
You can design PDF files and send the gift certificates by email, but according to Etsy's rules they MUST get either a physical card or a PDF card, you can't email the person just a code.
