Getting sales?

My items have been getting lots of views and favorites, but no sales. Is there something I should change or should I just wait for more views and hope I make a sale? Here is my shop: http://www.etsy.com/shop/hailey860
(I can't change the pricing on the Latios Plush- materials alone cost me $90 and it takes days to make. I'm already robbing myself with that price.)

Re: Getting sales?

You have a lovely shop!
But that being said, there is always room for improvement.
Some suggestions:
- Add more items to your shop. It does not feel like a shop with so little items. And the more items you have listed, the more chances of making a sale.
- Your photo's are very creative, but your items do not pop out.
Perhaps you could try photographing on a more neutral background.
Have you thought about adding a picture of your butterfly bracelet on an arm? Right now you cannot tell from your pictures that they are bracelets.
- You could use your tags a little better then you are already using them. Don't be afraid to use two or three word tags, they increase your chances of being found (search engine optimalisation).
Good luck with sales!

PS: you don't want to price your items so that you are 'robbing yourself'.
Don't be afraid to add a reasonable profit for yourself!

Re: Getting sales?

I've just started selling more regularly (knock on wood). It didn't start happening until I was loaded with inventory, had my tags etc sorted so that my ties performed well in relevancy searches (I come up in the first couple of pages on all the most used search terms people have been using when they've checked out my ties) and lastly working on my photos so that the items pop (still a work in progress)...sometimes I have to reshoot 3 or 4 times to get the best shot & figure out the best backdrop.

Last week Michelle did an Online Lab on this topic "Getting Views But Not Sales: Shop Critiques With Michelle." You should check it out.

It's up in the archived Online Labs videos under the Etsy Success section.

Re: Getting sales?

What they said and don't get discouraged! I only just got my first sale, and it took four months. These shops can take a lot of tweaking and time, but as you get more items and more familiar with the site, things get better, so don't give up!

I agree with the others, your shop is lovely! It took me 4 months for my first sale.

Time and patience. :)

Re: Getting sales?

Definitely add more items and taking better pictures would help a lot. Customers like to 'browse' and if you only have 1 page of items, they may feel like left out for some reason lol
Try taking pics of your items against a white background. It helps a lot and it's helped me! :)

Re: Getting sales?

You have some really unique things in your shop. I do agree with some of the comments you've gotten. You need photos that allow you see more of the items. I would also suggest that you give more details on your items in the description.....size, care, materials. Most customers don't want to have to ask questions and then wait for answers. And once they leave your shop.....it reduces the chances for a purchase.
