As a side note, I just tried the new dashboard and was very disappointed to see that there was no drag and drop feature for keywords / tags.

It just makes sense to have that option instead of having to delete and add if the order is wrong etc.

Question: Is it better to use a single word, or multiple words? I always use 2-3 words, trying to replicate what I see coming up most in the people who DO find me. But I don't know if I'm missing the others.

I've learned to make sure I stay on top of seasons and holidays. Go back and tweak the tags and title to tailor it to what shoppers are looking for, especially if something should be showing up in a link from an Etsy email! And doing similar items in different ways. All of these may lead someone to your items to impulse buy, even if they didn't plan on it.

This is great, there are lots of things related to keywords which we still don't understand!

For example, is it better to put 1-word keyword or multiple words keywords in tags? Also how should we organise keywords in title? All most important in beginning, e.g.. " vintage 60s Mens Bespoke Tuxedo tux Prom Wedding Jacket Blazer " or choose top 2 - 3 words and add other ones after, e.g. " Vintage Tuxedo Jacket . Mens 60s suit Blazer Prom Wedding Bespoke Tailored..." ?

Etsy has tremendously helpful resources. It is like enrolling for a free-wheel MBA catered to selling handmade products. After swallowing down numerous Etsy articles, I tweaked EVERYTHING for better SEO - I changed my about me, about shop, shop title, shop announcement, categories/ sections names, item titles, item descriptions, those 13 tags, and choosing from every relevant drop down menu to add additional 'tags' to my item. PHEW!!! Keywords can be a killer!

My #1 TIP: Don't worry about your item title looking clunky with keywords that are not readable....In my experience, a customer looks at the photographs/ item descriptions while the search engine looks at that item title's words. Put as many as are allowed, starting with the most important keywords. Shuffle their order for similar items in your shop so that they show up even with different search terms.

My #1 Question : Does it matter if I spell it Colour or Color? If I say Valentine Day instead of Valentine's Day? Jewellery or Jewelry? I can't exhaust my 13 tags solely on these terms... :(

A local Etsy friend turned me onto the value of keywords. She suggested the site Tools for Etsy, particularly the Tagwars. I'm not certain how to use this. Do I go for the one tag word with 50,000+ views or will I get lost in that tag? Is there another, better way to choose tags?

Hey there!

I am needing to know about multi-worded key words. For instance, if I use "scottie dog figurine", does that mean a customer would have to type in that exact phrase into the search bar, or would my item eventually come up if they typed in "dog figurine"? Or if I used "green brown orange"... would they need to type exactly that?

Are there any other ways of testing if your keywords are effective besides trying them for a week and seeing if you are getting more traffic?

I do have a question I'd like to post: Is it better to have keyword PHRASES, or split the phrase into individual keywords. e.g. keyword "vinyl wall decal" vs. keywords "vinyl" "wall" "decal" individually?

I have a personalised baby product on etsy, with four items (different samples of my baby book). At present I have the same description for each item ( only difference is colour). How should I change the wording for each item, to maximize the number of views?
