How can I get more fans of my Facebook page?

I joined teams that are supposed to promote Facebook pages, and l liked other people pages, however I did not get a lot of 'likes' back - at least not from personal Facebook profiles that are the only ones that count.

Do you have any ideas?

It takes a lot of work and patience to build up a following...
You could join some fan pages on Facebook that's purpose is to get you fans such as:

I joined the team Make My Facebook Famous but it seemed to have the same thing going on, I liked everyone and I only got a couple in return. I wonder if people realize you have to be on your personal page for the like to a business page to register?

Several teams usually run a discussion thread where everyone lists their page and you just go up the list.

I think it just takes time, I have joined many facebook teams as well and when I like 10 I rarely even get 1 in return. But every 1 counts!

Yes it does not count as a like - the number do not change.

If you are trying to reach a number of fans...people need to like your page w/ their personal page so that it will reflect in the number. You can like w/ your fan page but it will not reflect in the number of fans for that page.
