Facebook Promoted Posts and now views are drooping...

...like flies y'all! I have over 250 likes on my Facebook page, but now that promoted posts exist I get only 20-30 views on a post! I used to average 70 views for each post (not fabulous, but better than 20!) Help!

It's very frustrating to build a page and get followers, only to have none of my followers see my content. I did see a tip that told fans to edit the Interest button on their accounts, so I posted that tip on my page. The problem is, only a few fans even saw the tip! How can I reach all of my fans if promoted posts are eating up my content?

Any other ideas/tips to make sure my content goes to my audience? I mean really, people did click "like" because they want to see it!

I never understood why they even started this... If I like a page, I want to see their posts! Why would I have to now go in and click on each one AGAIN so I can see posts from pages I like? It seems sneaky on their part, most people would NEVER even know they have to do this. That would be like becoming friends with someone on facebook but never seeing anything they post, because you have to then click on something else to do that.

And then, you're correct, you can make a post about how to edit the interest button, but no one is seeing it because they don't know that's what they need to do to see your posts...

I really don't get it and can say I've tried too hard to figure it out lol! I am lucky if I reach 200 people with a post and I have over 900 likes.
I just keep plugging away!

I'm finding I can't see most posts from other pages I like from my page, as the "show in newsfeed" button doesn't exist for pages, only individuals. So that reduces your audience again.

If you want all your 'like'rs to see your page, then you have to advertise, no doubt the intent by fb.

Wow Joanne, frustrating to say the least. Especially when you have so many likes! I have about 120 likes and some of my posts are seen by 4 or 5 people. I'm thinking why do I even post, but I still keep on posting.

OMG Jenni!! They removed the 'Add to interests' option from the drop down! I didn't even notice this until you posted on my page. I am furious. This means I literally must pay to advertise and promote my posts for my fans to see my content. Ridiculous. So much for free facebook.

I started reading on the sixth paragraph. It's pretty optimistic, which isn't the way I normally am, but it's a good way to see it. It's probably more helpful if you have a large business.

To be honest I just thought the slump in views on our Facebook pages was directly related to how many users are actually loading up Facebook. When a post from your page is "viewed" that means someone loaded up Facebook while it was still visible on their "homepage".

It has nothing to do with the viewer hitting up your page or clicking on your post at all. Sign of the times.... less people are interested in Facebook because it's now just one big giant fake promoted ad campaign.

PS... Just read part of that article... My "reach" went from 128,000 to 53 in less than a week ;)

I was wondering what happened when I noticed my reach numbers suddenly dropping down to about 1/4 of what they usually are!

Here's the problem though.. I don't have 400 fans, and you need 400 or more fans to "sponsor" a post.. so what are those of us supposed to do who do not have enough fans to sponsor a post?! I have tried their regular paid ads, with virtually zero success. (I've run about a dozen of them .. with a variety of target audiences and images.)

All very frustrating to say the least. To tell you the truth, I never really had any direct sales from FB. The only reason I created a business page was because it was the thing to do. Since we've all been so limited in who sees what I don't think it's even worth it anymore. I may just say the heck with it and move on!

It does kind of suck that you have to pay to promote FB posts but I see it as another business expense so I do promote a couple posts a week and it has brought me several customers.
