English question : expedited

I need again the lights of native English speakers. What does the work expedited mean to you ? Overnight/express shipping or simply faster than economy ?

Re: English question : expedited

Expedited is just faster than economy but not overnight.

Example:

In the US we have:
-First Class---2-7 days but can be longer
-Priority---1-3 days.....(what I would consider expedited)
-Priority Express---1 days/overnight

Re: English question : expedited

To me, expedited is either Priority or Express.

Re: English question : expedited

Ok so here in Switzerland, when I ship to the US I have :
Economy 2-4 weeks
Priority 3-5 days
Express 1-2 days but it costs around 100$

I usually offer standard economy with an upgrade possibility for Priority. That would be considered expedited then ?

Re: English question : expedited

I would consider it expedited but I would actual write out something like "upgrade to expedited to get your item in 3-5 days" instead of just saying expedited as it can mean something different to different people.

Whenever possible replace vague/subjective terms and phrases like "expedited" with something concrete. You already have 3 perfectly good and very clear descriptions. Just list them and their respective costs.

Re: English question : expedited

Richard I agree but I just wanted to make sure what to answer when a customer asks me for expedited shipping.

Re: English question : expedited

Funny story:

Back in college, I used to sell my used textbooks on Amazon. One of the books that sold was at my parents' house, not with me in my dorm. The customer ordered the faster shipping. I called my mom to ship it for me and she took that to mean "overnight." It took the cost of shipping from about $8 to $25. That was far more than my book even sold for. Thankfully, my mom felt horrible and gave me the difference from her own account. Being a broke college student and all. ;)

Funny now, not then. lol. But that just goes to prove that expedited can mean different things to different people. :)

Re: English question : expedited

If the word is confusing, I wouldn't use it, to avoid disappointed customers.
