Hi Etsy Success Friends,

All of us have been like little sponges, soaking up the tips for success this week. Sometimes we just need a fresh pair of eyes to look at our shop and say - "Hey, you forgot to use this tag!" or "You might try this title!"

The rules:
1. You are at least moderately up-to-date with the suggestions for Relevancy and
good tagging < http://www.etsy.com/teams/7716/announcements/discuss/8822575/>

2. If you pop into this thread and want to be critiqued yourself, you can join by critiquing the last shop that commented. The next person to pop in will critique you.

3. You don't have to look at every listing and every tag. . . but try to come up with a few suggestions . . .Words or Synonyms that you think would help with relevancy search.

Who wants to go first?

Re: Does your shop need a Relevancy Critique??

I got skipped,

for those of you new to this thread, this is a give and take. I spent a long time reviewing a shop and do not think it's fair for people to just pop in and request a critique without doing the same work for others

MagicByLeah you have such beautiful items! I just think that the earrings would stand out if you have a one color background, maybe a white or a neutral color..

Re: Does your shop need a Relevancy Critique??

happiestcreations-I just can't get over how many sales you have had in such a short amount of time!! Congratulations! Girl, if you have any suggestions for me, PLeaSe send them my way :)

My Relevancy thoughts - I felt your tags, item titles and descriptions were very well thought out and thorough. The only thing I could find that you could consider is in your shop welcome. I have heard that this is a prime location for search engines to look for key words and phrases to send potential buyers your way. They suggest you avoid welcomes and repeating your shop name as this fills up the space with information people are not typing into a search. Other than that, your shop looks and seems to be doing GreAt!! Hope I have helped.

Re: Does your shop need a Relevancy Critique??

AddieGertrude, I love your shop! So cute! I think items are tagged very well and you have great descriptions and everything is worded very well. One critique I would have is in the 'about the item' section, under 'occasion' you have the item listed as 'new baby' When you are choosing an occasion when listing the item Etsy says, "Only choose an occasion if your item is for a specific occasion. You should not choose an occasion just because your item could be a gift for an occasion.Choosing an occasion when your item is not specifically for an occasion could make it harder for shoppers to find your item in search. Not specifying an occasion will not hurt your exposure in search results."

I think this might make it harder for buyers to find you if they are looking for baby items but not specifically for a new baby or baby shower gift.

Just a thought. Other than that I think everything is tagged and described VERY well! :)

Re: Does your shop need a Relevancy Critique??

Hey maybe instead of 'Custom Handmade Crochet Leg Warmers Many Colors Available Baby Toddler Children Teen Adult' you could consider something like 'Crochet leg warmers - custom handmade in <specific colour> for <women>' and have several specific listings.

Re: Does your shop need a Relevancy Critique??

Also Knottytots, try adding some tag words of occasions people would buy your legwarmers for! Like 'baby shower', 'gift', 'birthday', etc, I saw your 'back to school' one and thought that was an excellent idea. Love the photos so I'm sure they'll catch people's eye if they come up in the search results!

Re: Does your shop need a Relevancy Critique??

@CuteCuriosities,

My suggestion is to take the word screenprinted out of the names of your items and focus instead on the colors and design. Screenprinted is a technique and when I search, it is not usually for a technique. I want a color or size or pattern - something like that.

For example, the listing I have included below, I would call "Vibrant Flower and Dragonfly Notebook".

These are some tags I suggest:

dragonfly (there are people who really like dragonflies)
insect
augergine
bright colors
floral motif
shimmering
delicate
ruby red
crimson
journal
diary
lined notebook
ruled notebook

I also suggest adding the dimensions of the book. Many people, including me, will not know what A5 means.

I hope this helps. It's funny, I get stuck trying to think of words for my stuff and it flowed freely for you.

Wow thanks CharleneSevier! That's great, will definitely make the changes you suggest...and I admit I have had people contact me about the size/measurements but have been too lazy to change it! Thanks for giving me the push I needed

Re: Does your shop need a Relevancy Critique??

CharleneSevier you have a lot of earings so it is good that you have shop sections to make the earings sections smaller(no one likes scrolling through page after page) but i was scrollling and for each set of earings i couldn't tell what section it might fall in to. The sterling silver category is a keeper, maybe try "mostly metal earings" or "glass beaded earings" "golden wires"
or separate by color. you might not want to take my advice b/c it seems like you put a lot of time in to creating around these section ideas, but just a suggestion to get the buyers to see something different- I might buy earings, but wouldn't consider "romantic" as my style so I might not click- even though there may be something that would suit my style.
I also typed in garnet gemstone earings in to etsy search and i scrolled through3 pages & did not see you. something must be done for that. maybe replace shimmering tag on Garnet Gemstone and Champagne Crystal Dangle Earrings with garnet gemstone earings? also in your about section it is cute as a child you would use broken stuff, but the flow of reading doesn't accentuate how high quality your jewelry is now.
I read here-

http://etsymentors.blogspot.com/p/critique-your-own-shop.html

that on your profile page it is important to just have your about and shop items- well read it and there are great tips for everyone

favorite material it says "found objects"? like vintage jewelry parts or repurposed vintage jewelry parts or whatever, found objects is a little vague and almost gives the reader that you are once again using broken buttons or such- I hope I am helping and not making an enemy! trying to be blunt, but helpful. you are doing many things well, some of your items have a lot of views for such a short time, but others don't I would like to know why too, look in to your stats and if a tag is not hitting then you could try changing one at first to see if it helps-

ok! hopefully someone can critique me in detail too! thank you in advance. i would like to know if my item descriptions are TOO detailed lol and what tags should be changed on my low hitting items. and any other tidbits that might help!

Re: Does your shop need a Relevancy Critique??

SeamsOriginal - please see original post. This does take awhile to give a thourough critique and each person is supposed to critique the last person who did one. So if you would like one then critique my shop, and then the next person will do yours!

Re: Does your shop need a Relevancy Critique??

I would appreciate this very much! I am perplexed at the difference between my listings and others that seem so similar, but are pages ahead in searches.

Re: Does your shop need a Relevancy Critique??

@HandmadeHemp: I love your things!!!! Especially the hemp and glass! While I need a lot of help in this area, I'll venture to suggest that your titles are too long. If you search the basics for one of your items, say hemp keychain, the ones that come up first have short, to the point titles and leave the detail to the description and the tags.
