Do not buy shipping tape from the Dollar Store!!

I know it was probably a dumb idea, but a Dollar Store just opened up in my neighborhood, went to check it out and lo and behold they had shipping tape!! What a good deal I thought to myself, mistake!! I tried it this morning and I had a few choice words before I threw it in the garbage...

Just had to vent!

I would never. And i bought some at Home Depot that was crap also. I usually just stick to the scotch brand. Everything else just doesn't stick as well.

I was able to get Scotch brand at my Dollar Store.... I actually get most of my packing materials there (tape, bubble wrap, etc).
You can get deals there, but need to watch for brand names.

On that note, never buy the generic glue they sell. I tried it once for the kids (they go thru so much). After a bit instead of looking white, it looked blue. :(

You get what you pay for. However Dollar Store is always the cheapest place to find something, but we really have to be careful what we buy, otherwise it is just wasted. I got my packing stuff from Dollar Store, for small fragile item, I bought thick carton box, bubble wrap, Thank You Card, Bubble envelope and I was lucky to get Scotch in Dollar store too.
So, just be extra careful .

Once I bought a post-it note not by Scotch. They flew all over the place. More like sticking to the floor. Scotch makes the best sticking stuffs.

I got Funky packaging tape from target...and then later from rite-aid.
Got a purple tie dye, green with peace signs, and pirate cross bones with little hearts lol
Was the same price as the regular packaging tape, works just as well to...and adds some flare :D

I went to Target and got Scotch, dilemma solved!! I would love to buy Scotch from the Dollar Store, I do buy my bubble wrap and shipping paper from there.

Really? I get the Duck brand packing tape from our local Dollar General and love it! It beats even the packing tape in the big packages from Costco in stickiness! :)

i 2nd the Duck Tape, i ship boxes i make for my signs, which can be 12 by 30 " by 2",for instance.
The only way i can use or "convince-encourage" cheaper grade Tape to stick or hold is with my heat gun. especially in mid winter,when the shop isn't keep warm 24-7.
i just warm all the tape once is finished and press with a squege tool on the ends so i keep my fingers...."comfortable".
Ducks 4 Bucs is my fav, and i've shipped over 400 signs, @ least in the last 5 years.
Walmart seems to be the best source. happy shipping ;>)

There are lots of super cute sticky tapes on Etsy :) I found a seller that has a wide selection and does not charge 20$ for shipping small tape rolls to Canada, like some ... My customers (and post office ladies) love the tapes with cutesy animals, hearts and whatnot.

Hmm, went to get a link and it says her shop is down, although her profile is still there ... maybe the supply shop bug?

I haven't bought packing tape yet. Everytime we move the packers leave tons of partial rolls behind. Apparantly they aren't supposed to take partial rolls from room to room so after they left, I went around and collected them.:)

I use One Arm Bandit packing tape. Higher in the price range, but it' so thick and strong and clear and sticky and lovely... :P
