Critique?

Hi, all,

If anybody's willing, I'd love to receive critiques of my shop with an eye toward increasing sales. I've been actively selling for about 2 months (even though it says the shop's been open longer, it was dormant). I've had a few sales, but obviously I'd like more. I've joined a treasury team, I think I've got good tags, and my photography I think is decent, but you guys know this stuff far better than me.

Thoughts?

Best wishes,
Nancy

Re: Critique?

Hello!

You have really lovely and unique items, but your photography needs a bit of tweaking. Try different angles near natural light--cloudy, overcast days are wonderful--and go for a more cohesive background look to help brand your shop. Also, don't forget the wonders a little bit of editing can do! Free sites such as Picmonkey and Ipiccy are both really useful:)

Best of luck!

Re: Critique?

Hi Nancy,

Lovely shop. I agree that your pics have room for improvement. Most of them are too dark on my screen, the whites are grey. Do you use any kind of white balance correction ? I also feel that you could fill more of the image space with your items rather than background if that makes any sense, when seen in miniature it is difficult to see the items themselves.

Hope that helps !

Re: Critique?

Hi Nancy-

I must say that your art prints/letters are so pretty! I am giving a crit from a drawing/painting perspective :) Did you do the original artwork yourself? If so- you need to mention that they are prints of original works...and they are priced low in my opinion...the medieval ones also come with a frame? They are really priced low. Maybe check around what average prices of prints are...and you can search framed art on here too to get a feel of what is a nice cost for pieces with frames.
I would say the same thing the other two gals ahead of me did: edit your pics. I use picmonkey (free) and take different angles.
Your shop is very interesting...and has nifty items. It takes a while to get found. Think about the words you use as tags too...lots of Mom's love to get their children's names done it letters...I would promote that line in the children's section- custom section...even weddings :)
All the best!
Casey

Re: Critique?

Thanks guys--so far I've been doing all my photography indoors. Guess I need to move it outside. I've got a patio with gray stone--maybe that would make good backgrounds? Are most of the white backgrounds digitally added?

To answer your questions, all the artwork are prints of my originals. The letters are small (4 x 6") and do come with frame (yay for buying frames in bulk!). The larger pieces under the section "art prints" come matted but without frame. I think I mention that in the description, but maybe it's not clear enough?
