Just wondering....do you have more than one coupon code going at one time?? Like 10% off for Facebook fans .... and 10% off for Mother's Day (advertised on your Etsy page)?

I do. I offer a blog promo, and etsy promo and a twitter promo. I want to see where I am being seen at.

I have lots of different codes, it helps me track where my sales are coming from.

I even have codes printed on my little moo business cards. I send them out with orders with a special code just for returning customers.

I also put them in the body of a listing if someone purchases a matching necklace and earrings, they'll see a 10% code.

I just did my very first coupon code and was pretty proud of myself just for that! lol sad I know..... ;-)
I think it is a great idea though to do more than one, like Sherry suggested. That would be a fun and easy way to track where sales are coming from! I think I will print some business cards out and add a coupon code to those!

I will be watching this thread to see what other ideas people have!

I do! I have some that I give out on a regular basis, like for repeat customers, and some for seasonal/flash sales that I inactivate after a certain time.

I have a repeat customer code, a code that they can share with their friends and for my Grand Opening I am doing a 15% off coupon.

Great idea. I haven't done any codes yet. I'm still trying to build up sales (got my 5th this morning!!). I like the idea of offering the discount codes to different markets.

I have different coupon codes for different people, so many that I made a coupon organizer spreadsheet where I can track who is using which one, when, how many times, etc. I use it for my other store, but it was so useful that I added it and a bunch of other useful etsy business spreadsheet stuff to this store! Take a look, if you like!

@Judy, congrats on the sale. Even now, every single sale means a lot to me. When you do start using coupons, maybe just start small with your returning customers.

Just a little slip in the package you send them with a code and your shop address.

I'm just thrilled when a customer returns. It's better than feedback. You know they thought enough of your work to purchase something again.

So I definitely see the benefit of having several coupon codes. Right now, I have one for returning customers, one for Mother's Day, one which I made for my high school group and one for my Lupus group. OH, and Facebook as well. As of now, they are all for the same percentage off. Do you have 10% off in one place, 15% off in another, etc? Or are they all the same, like mine?

I use the Etsy Theme Shop app on my facebook page to give people a 15% off coupon code when they share an item of mine. I also have a 10% off coupon code for repeat customers that I include in with their purchase. I recently started advertising on Kiss My Tulle, so I might start offering a coupon code for Tulle customers as well, though I'm not sure how much I'll offer off.

Ariella, I've never heard of Etsy Theme Shop...nor have I heard of Kiss My Tulle. That's why I love this team so much. Everyone is so willing to share. So THANK you!! I will be investigating further.:)

I do several coupon codes, and even include a loyal customer coupon code on the back of a business card when i ship an item to a repeat buyer. It also helps me track my marketing.

I do and I have them for returning customers as well.

A friend of mine did something interesting with her "real life" friends. She gave them each their own coupon code like: redhead10 or poodlefan10, etc and asked them if they would help her promote her shop. If they managed to get a sale for her (as tracked by their individual coupon codes) she would give them a commision of sorts.

Wow Annie, that's a really cool idea. Right now I am offering a "spring" code, which is in my shop announcement for anyone to use, then I have a free shipping code that I give to all of my friends/family (since I can hand deliver their items), and I have a return customer code that I put on my business cards and will send out with my packages. I've only made 3 sales (shop only open for 3 weeks), but I hope this will help to bring more in.

I'm thinking of offering 15% off for my customers who post a photo of themselves wearing a "Jujubeader" piece. In addition, if they share it along with a link from my shop on THEIR Facebook page...I will also throw in free shipping. What do you think about that?
