Changing Business name... need brainstorming help...

Hi all,
I have been struggling with wanting to change my business shop name for almost 6 months now. I opened the shop long ago, and before I had any real idea on what i wanted to do with it. Then i started added jewelry, and then i became too involved with the shop to just up and start a new one. I just feel that my name "Kadhi" is just not representative of my work. It says nothing about what i sell, and i don't think it is very easily to remember. I need something that speaks about my work, either literally or figuratively, and is easy to remember/spell.

So now i want to take advantage of etsy's allowance of a one-time change of store name, but dont know what to change it to!
Every time i come up with a new name, my friends and family shoot it down as being 'too obscure" "too trendy" "too this..." too that...
I need to leave them out of the decision making process and ask some fellow etsians!

Anyone care to do a free association word brainstorm about my shop and items?
What words immediately come to mind when you look at my items, read descriptions...etc Even if you think the word you're thinking of wouldn't make for a good shop name, just put it anyway, it might spark and inspire something in my mind.

I will be keeping that cool heart logo, as thats my signature logo, so that will end up being in the new banner.

I really love your stuff! It has a very Native American/Tribal vibe. I like your shop name, but YOU have to be happy with it! I'm not a huge help in picking a new shop name (my husbad actually came up with mine) but I hope you find something you love because your jewelry is great!

I won't be much help but wanted to say I think your name is as unique as the items you sell. I like your shop and your shop name.

Thanks Dorothy! Maybe I'm just to used to the name that I don't think its all that great as a shop name?
My name is so unique, that people often misspell it. In convos people will address me in alllllll kinds of different spellings, even though my name is written right there in the convo. Thats my main issue with leaving it as KADHI - I feel like if people go to search for me, there are too many different ways to misspell it that I am losing customers in the process.
(Khadi, Kadi, Kahdi, Kadhy, Kathi....you name it, its been tried!)

I agree that it is difficult to spell. I'm considering a new shop name myself. We are our own worst critics!

Anyway, I think you described your work accurately when you said it is for the "wild and free". I don't know what a good name is, but you can search to see what variations of free spirit or untamed are available and go from there.

I think "WILD HEART" has been the one that sticks out the most for me in all of my name searching... but its too popular of a word combination, and if someone were to google that, i'd likely end up on page 500 of the search.
so...back to the drawing board!

I changed my name at the suggestion of an Etsy Shop online critique. I originally balked at the idea. But, I tossed around the idea for a good 3 months. My new shop name literally popped into my head as I was driving down the expressway.

I completely understand what you're saying. It was exhausting and confusing trying to spell my business name to potential customers.(designs by t.a.y.l.o.r. (not tailor) 2 (the number not to/too/two) u (not you)

The old name was such a "burden". My new name is simple, direct and pretty simple to remember.

Don't over-think it. Your new name will come to you probably when you least expect it to.

Shop names are so personal it's kind of hard to make a suggestion without knowing you. Although I love shops named after people, for some reason I feel like your name would go better with some sort of boho clothing line.
instead of jewelry.

What were some of your ideas that were shot down. Maybe we can get a better idea of what you like based on that. Although I know family and friends mean well I can say from experience that you must pick a name you love no matter what they think.

SEED AND STRAND (although i dont like this one, too bland for me)

What about Wild Seed? Or The Wild Seed. I like the "wild."

Personally, not crazy about "heart." Wild Heart Rising sounds like a cheesy romance novel to me. I mean that in the nicest way possible.

I looked at your shop and I think that Native Bead Princess or Native Bead Queen or Native Bead Tribe may be appropriate and good metrics as a name. What do you think?

Hi! Think your shop is has such beautiful statement pieces, and lovely photos.
Am new to etsy and its hard to choose the right shop name, descriptions and tags etc etc etc !!!!!!!, however I love AuraRosesTreasures suggestion of Native Bead Tribe - maybe even shorting it to The Bead Tribe??? Hope this helps!!

Hi Kadhi! Remember to take your time and be SUPER super sure about your name before you change it. People get too antsy about re-branding, wanting it to be done and over with. I've seen some people here JUMP into a new name and then be really bummed because it wasn't their #1 choice.

Regret is awful! You already know that this is a ONE TIME only deal, so I don't want to lecture you - but you know what's at stake here. I took about 6 weeks and I posted here about 3 different times before I picked "The one"! Be double, no, TRIPLE sure! :)

As for brainstorming, here are some words that come to mind when I see your shop: Tribal, ethnic, folk, warrior princess, earthy, bold.

I want to steer away from using "TRIBE" or NATIVE or EARTH as to not box myself into a certain genre... my style is always evolving and i might not always produce native-style pieces.

The whole Native thing seems an obvious one, but I dont feel like I can label my shop NATIVE something since I am not native, and I dont think it gives due respect to those that are. My work definitely pulls inspiration from native american jewelry, but i would never call a piece "Native American jewelry" if that makes sense...

I just officially changed my shop name, but I was already using it as my business name for years. When i set up this shop it was going to be separate from my business, just a place to sell a few odd things, so I left my shop name the same as my user name. But a month ago I started seriously selling patterns, so I figured it was high time I get my butt in gear and change my shop name too. Your post inspired me to do it, I figure it's better to do it now before people really get to know my shop.

So far as your name goes ... is Wild Seed taken? I like that one too. Or since you liked Wildflower, but that is taken how about Wild Flower Seeds .... that has a nice ring to it .....

Remember your name doesn't have to reflect what you sell. Think of 5 popular store names or product names, most of them do not describe the item. We just get to know them so well, they become associated with the product.
