A couple of "team" questions.

I am wondering how many teams you all belong to.
How do you choose which teams to belong to?
What do you think the benefit of belonging is?

Re: A couple of "team" questions.

I am on 39 teams... which may be too many at the moment, for me, anyways.

I've chosen some teams that I can learn from (fro example, this one, and a team that discusses SEO's, seeing as I had no clue what that stood for).

I am also relatively new to Etsy, so I have also chosen some teams that I can post some of my Items on.

One of the benefits that I have found, is getting your name out there. a lot of people who own Etsy shops, also buy on Etsy, so it's great to connect with others.

Hope this helps a little bit :)

Re: A couple of "team" questions.

I belong to 15, one I am a captian of, plus this one.

I am part of two local teams (one state and one county). I belong to them just for networking and getting info if there's craft fairs in the area.

I'm part of two Etsy Business teams (this one and one similar to this one). I find them helpful because people throw around different questions and I am able to go to them and get help when it comes to running my shop.

I'm part of a craft fair team. I found this very valuable like the two shops I mentioned above. The great deal of advice I got was extremely helpful.

I'm also part of a few promo teams, and I'm thinking about dropping them. I don't find them all that helpful. :( Plus, I joined a SEO and Twitter teams that I want to focus on to get help through them for both those related topics.

Re: A couple of "team" questions.

I'm on 5 teams but only active on 2. The two I'm active on are this one and another social team. Shop promotion on the second team is kept at a minimum. I belong to an SEO team so I can check their threads when I need help with my shop. The other two teams are promo teams that I very rarely visit. I just haven't gotten around to leaving them. I don't believe promotion teams are beneficial to anyone.

9, no more than 10. This one, an SEO team that I only read don't post, my state team, and a couple of promo type teams that I'm only on sporadically.

Re: A couple of "team" questions.

I may be on a handful, but this is the only one that I am active on. Most of the others are so slow with questions and replies, I loose interest VERY quickly. Etsy Success team is great!

Re: A couple of "team" questions.

I currently belong to 12. I have been on couple more, but have discontinued being a part of those teams becuase they were not very active or insightful or connectied ( I guess for lock of a better term). If I am not getting anything out of a team, then I evaluate the benefit and discontue it because then it is just a waste of time. The I choose teams to join based on how active their members are, if I can benefit and grow and some teams are soley promo so I they are good for exposure. I love this team because it is a great mix of new sellers and long time sellers, so there is a lot of knowledge and advice that can be had from being here. Also I like the fact that Etsy admins are on this team (huge plus in the way of help and support) Also I like the fact that this team is not a promo team so I can benefit from the threads posted to help my shop improve and me as a seller improve!! There is a huge benefit to being on a variety of teams, I have grown tremendously, I have great support and it there is a sense of community on teams (for the most part) also networking, and exposure and the list goes on.

Re: A couple of "team" questions.

I belong to 10 teams and this has been a manageable number for me. I think it's really important to be active in any team you choose to be a part of.

As far as deciding on which teams, I tried to pick teams with members that had similar interests to mine i.e. vintage. It's great fun to share your passion with like-minded people. I also belong to a local team because I think that it's important to remember your roots and support your local peeps!

I also belong to a charitable team (Etsy Vintage Gives Back) and we give a portion of a few sold items to a different cause each month.

I get lots of advice about SEO, social media, photography, treasuries etc. from
my teams. I know for a fact that my teams (many with promotional threads) have bolstered my sales.

Teams make me feel like I'm part of a community - I can't recommend belonging to them highly enough!

Re: A couple of "team" questions.

Believe it or not I'm on more than 70 teams right now.

Some are business related (no promotions allowed) , some are teams related strictly to my art, many are Etsy prototype teams where new functions are tested before being released to the general Etsy community, a couple are local teams including one 'street' team where we physically meet and then there are three promo teams.

Since there's a digest format available for all teams it only takes a few minutes to 'catch up' on what's going on in most of them.

However there are a few of the chat teams where the members have become extremely close and those I check in on each morning.
