I would give anything for them to be chastized, reminded, referred to Critiques...
anything for them to be held up, hugged, shuffled along to where help could be found...
anything for them to be like us...

But they made Teams, so those who are overwhelmed, or afeared, or feel they've been chastised rudely by Etsians telling them they're posting in the wrong thread, or just a raw Newbie who shoulda searched first before asking...

They made Teams just so people wouldn't feel bad, right?

Oh lord, and that's exactly what the bulked-up Admin presence is doing now.

All which tells me that's NOT why they proceeded with the Forum Evisceration. Otherwise they'd be more helpful.

It truly breaks my heart. I remember. When I was guided. Hand held. Shoved. Hollered at. But I was directed, moved along like a kid in the cafeteria line...
I was shown.

They're just pointing them into outerspace. Into silence. Into empty spaces.

Are they supposed to just bump along until they find a team that fits them, that's active, that they meet all the requirements to?

Until they find us?

To me the forums look cold and uninviting just from a glance. If I were a newbie, I don't think I'd enter too quickly.

That's true -- with the color change and all, they look very uninviting. Like you have to march across that vast expanse of white, and be seen by all, not cuddled in amongst the other threads. It's stark now.

I asked to join a team after being on etsy for a couple of weeks. I was turned down and told to go chat on the forums (which, naturally, is how I'd found out about the team in the first place.)

It was a year or so before I dared apply to a different team.

Yesterday I read lots of cross posts from people who'd been sent the sarcastic "you can't join" mail from teams...even when they'd been INVITED to join.

bizarre.

it seems you get a standard rejection letter when the team is closed, for whatever reason - so there are now so many people fed up with teams already.

Agreed with all. I'd have given up by now if I'd just started on etsy.

The advice and information AND different opinions just reading the old forums when intelligent experienced people were helping was invaluable.

but...to their credit,(sarcasm) they put an end to negative public exposure based on "concentrated" rebellion and demand for change by etsy users on a public forum.

It seemed an interesting coincidence, but I'm probably just imagining things.

my new personal pet peeve is that certain team leaders can decide not to accept your "application" if your shop "contains items similar to other shops already established as part of this team." awesome. The Cliquey-ness has grown in importance.
I had someone reject my application from a vintage sellers team because I "don't have the minimum of 75% vintage items," which I do - they just didn't look at my shop carefully. So now I can CHOOSE to re-apply in 6 months...seriously!
