Re: Meet and Greet!

Hello, my name is Sandra. I just joined and I am still learning how this works!

I am from Maine in the U S A, where it is very cold today.

I mostly make cloth dolls for children. Sometimes I will make something special for a collector.

I made my first cloth doll when I was 8 years old. That was 62 years ago.

Yes, I also collect dolls, mostly baby dolls and little girls; and old cloth dolls.

I also crochet, knit, plastic canvas and cross stitch, usually all these things end up with a doll related theme.

I love going to church and spending time with my church family.

Thank you for having me.

Re: Meet and Greet!

Hi my name is Caroline!
I'm from Quebec, Canada.
I make OOAK cloth dolls and creatures. I'm inspired by fairytales, legends and nature! I like to create fantasy creatures and characters. I've been making dolls for over 5 years. I've been sewing since I'm a little girl and never stopped ever since.

I'd like to collect dolls, but I don't have enough to call it a collection, my little ''collection'' grows slowly, but I really treasure it!
I used to make clothing, accessories and textile jewelry. But now it's all about dolls. Creating characters joined two of my favorite things, sewing and drawing (I'm always drawing, all the time, since forever. My drawing and dollmaking are very intertwined). I still sew clohting for myself, my daughter (21 months old) and some fun side projects also when I have the time!

When I'm not making dolls, I like to draw and dance (gypsy!) and read, and roam through the woods! I'm a fairy tale/fantasy/ Sci fi totally assumed geek.
And above all this, my daughter comes first! She's my sweet little pixie and muse!

Thanks for welcoming me to this group! It will be nice to meet other dollmakers! Fun to virtually get out of my creative lair and talk a bit with others who share the same passion!!

I'll always be happy to talk or discuss just about anything, it's just I'm not often online these days! But I'll stop by as much as I can!

Re: Meet and Greet!

Hi, I'm Peggy and I'm an indie toy designer. My husband and I live on a mountain in the Smokies and I enjoy all sorts of Appalachian crafts and folk art. My work is more whimsical, though. I love machine embroidery and love to draw my designs and digitize them. I like to think I'm following in the footsteps of my great aunts, who founded Twinzy Toys about a hundred years ago (although they painted their doll faces). Please visit my store: https://www.etsy.com/shop/frogpondtoys
I'm happy to favorite yours if you return the favor for me.

Re: Meet and Greet!

Hello everyone! I'm not new to this group but I recently opened a new shop (and I'm slowly transitionning to it)
(my old shop is still opened and still has many dolls and some nice sales, it's : www.curiositesbohemes.etsy.com)

But all my new dolls will be listed here from now on : www.missmothdolls.etsy.com

It's a scary move, but I'm also very happy and excited, (I have been hesitating for a long while and decided to jump, before the holidays). I hope you like it as much as I do!

Caroline, Miss Moth ;-)

(If you did a similar move and have some advice or ideas on how to let my followers know about it (and not annoy or scare people) pm me, it would be greatly appreciated! )

:-)

Hello hello! My name is Agnes (Inez in Spanish). I'm originally from Wisconsin, spent the last 6 years in Los Angeles, and just recently moved back to the midwest so I could spend more time making dolls.
I make cloth bodied fantasy art dolls. My current obsession has been space mermaids!
I've been floating around Etsy for years but have just started to build up my business and make this a legitimate venture for myself.

Re: Meet and Greet!

Hi there i'm Meg from New Hampshire USA. I crochet dolls and was originally inspired by proffesional ballet dancers. I've been making dolls for around 3 to 4 years but only began selling them when I came onto Etsy. I will be stocking a new line of non doll creations in a few weeks and enjoy writing and cozying up with a good book in the evenings. My store will be supporting tuition for school and boarding costs.

Re: Meet and Greet!

Hi everyone!
My name is Pedro and I'm writing from beautiful Sintra in Portugal
I've always loved history and always tried, even with my playmobil dolls, to recreate historical figures in any material. 5 years ago I started a collection of them in baked clay but as I was moving lots from house to house and clay was heavy, I gradually changed to paper mache which has become a true passion. The dolls on my shop are mini versions of my collection. Made these because I dont want to sell the bigger versions and I think that as soon as I find my so called niche, they can be rather interesting item to buy!
Also in paper maché I do canvases to paint on and wearable props for myself in order to do kind of historical based self portrait paintings, as well as animals, etc.

Re: Meet and Greet!

First let me say, I LOVE everyone on this team! Great thread! I love dolls and grew up with my family making them in one way or another so I'm not new to this team, but have been digging in shops over the last year or so as I go.

What's your name? My name is Cindy... CALL ME CIN.

Where are you from? California/Oregon

what kind of dolls do you make? Actually this team has inspired me to experiment. I used to be a Wedding Coordinator and made gowns, etc... now I have made a few dolls... corset/dress ornaments and now I think I am going to make doll clothes. I've been wanting to for a while, and the thought has been there long enough now to act on it.

How long have you been making them?
Technically - three years on and off... I've been learning new techniques with mixed media and fibers. LOVE LACE.

Do you collect dolls? OH yes, I still have my very first doll as well when I was a child. Her name is Susie.

Do you make any non-doll items too? oh yes, jewelry which I was doing a few years before dolls. I'm a Cosmetologist by trade - retired. Three grown kids, five grandbabies - two girls so I always look for boy and girl dolls. I like to use jewelry and vintage beads in my doll work and usually they can't play with the type of dolls I make so it is fun to shop.

What else do you enjoy doing when you aren't making dolls?
I am a Murder Mystery Writer. I publish on wattpad and my first book is almost fully completed. I've written over 400 poems when we had treasuries.

Anything else you'd like to share? I am so glad to be here and can't wait to explore everyone's shops! Peace and blessings to all of you!
Cin ;)

Re: Meet and Greet!

Hello, I'm Jill from Melbourne, Australia. My dolls are birds made from 100% wool felt fibre and embroidery threads, wire and wax. I'm interested in using only natural materials which presents a challenge with the beaks and feet, but have overcome this by adding wax to my sculptures. I began making mainly peacocks, but have now branched off into making other types of birds. Currently I'm creating birds inspired by Australian native flora, all based on fantasy rather than working from photos in nature.

Re: Meet and Greet!

Hello, I'm Emese from Hungary, mother of three kids . I'm new on Etsy and I'm glad to be part of this amazing team.

I design cloth dolls for toddlers' imaginative play. My dolls are suitable for little hands, are made of 100% natural materials (cotton, wool and linen) and are durable enough to be a friend for years :-)

I started making dolls years before, when my daughter was a toddler. She is already 10, but creating dolls became my passion.

Re: Meet and Greet!

Hello everyone,
I'm Anastasia from Russia and I'm new on Etsy.
I've started making dolls since last year, and this is my passion, as you can see from the name of the shop. There are two people in our shop who create these dolls: my friend, who molds their face and body, and I sew clothes and accessories. Also I like felting, so you can see little adorable felted birds in our shop, each with its own character and history.
Besides making dolls, I like painting and scrapbooking.

I'm glad to be here and hope to become friends with other members of this team.
