Thank you & question

Thank you for accepting my request to join the team. I was very hesitant about activating DC, but, did so just a couple days ago. I have one sale with it and have a question about printing shipping labels.
Is it just like paypal as far as the procedure? I don't know why I'm so nervous about this. I have not had any problems with paypal and activated DC with the encouragement of a friend.
Any words of advice would be greatly appreciated.

Re: Thank you & question

Printing shipping levels from Etsy is super easy. Just a few clicks and you are done. I was nervous too at first since I did not know what to expect, but after printing that first one, it is a piece of cake. And I love that I can print labels for priority flat rate padded envelopes.

Once you click the "print shipping label" you will be taken to a screen to select the shipping service and enter the package weight. You can also add signature confirmation on this screen too. If you are over you shipping budget, you will receive a message at this point regarding that. If you need to modify your return address, you can edit that there also (mine defaulted to my name and I changed it to my business name).

Once that data is entered, you hit a button to confirm your label and a confirmation screen comes up with your cost shown based on the service and weight. Then you purchase your label. Once purchased, click on "download shipping label" and a screen will pop up with the printable shipping label.

You will be emailed a receipt and your order is updated with the shipping information including delivery confirmation/tracking number.

Hope this helps.

Re: Thank you & question

Hello, I'm new here also. Can someone please tell me..... If I print a shipping label through etsy, does it have the postage on it just like when shipping with paypal? Is there the same postage cost as pp? So, that's what you're paying for, the postage, right? Or, is there another charge for the label? Hope this is not a dumb question!

Re: Thank you & question

The postage costs are the same discounted rates as Paypal's. The cost does not show on the shipping label - only the service.

Re: Thank you & question

Thanks for the quick response. This is good to know! I have heard that some are printing their postage on paypal but I don't know why they would do that if dc has the exact same service for the exact same cost?

Re: Thank you & question

Hi EyeCandy,

I have the option to print postage labels from DC now, but I don't. Why don't I? For one I got used to doing it in PayPal.

I am not an not a super high volume seller--maybe I would be inspired to try it if I had more DC volume.

I don't know if it will work for my printer (I just got a dymo) and I don't know anything about can I print sample labels, void a label, etc. etc...

I don't feel like sorting that out on my own and Etsy rarely has a comprehensive FAQ where information like that can be assessed quickly and clearly.

If they offer first class international through their labels, then I will probably make the time to go figure out what they offer and what they don't. Until then....I'll keep with the system I have.

Re: Thank you & question

I understand Pinch, it is easier to do what is familiar. I must admit, I have grown very familiar with paypal so this dc shipping is new to me. The thought of transferring all the info over to paypal seems redundant though so I am inspired to do it with dc. It would be fantastic if they provided first class international! For that reason alone I'll bet everyone would want dc. Something to think about, etsy!

What if a label doesn't print or you need to void a label?

Re: Thank you & question

I was also hesitant to activate DC. Prior to activating DC, many of my sales were by buyers who clearly joined Etsy the day they made their purchases. I often wondered if I were losing sales simply because an individual might not want to join Etsy just to make a purchase. Since I activated DC, I have only had one sale that paid via PayPal; the rest have paid through DC. Also, I have had my best month ever in sales since activating DC. My product is somewhat seasonal and I had anticipated sales picking up in the next month or two. I also don't know that my sales aren't increasing because I am getting a bit more exposure as I sell more kits. Or it could simply be that the convenience of being able to pay with a DC is what is actually resulting in increased sales. Because I am not through my first 12 month period selling on Etsy, I cannot compare this year's sales to last year's sales for any patterns or trends. Bottom line, I haven't regretted activating DC and everything is running smoothly with no glitches for me.
