Manually shipping with Pay Pal... HOW?!

I see everyone saying they use a Pay Pal service to ship still but have to enter everything manually... how are you doing this?! I tried going directly to USPS.com but cannot ship first class (which is 99% of what I do!) Any advice is greatly appreciated!

Re: Manually shipping with Pay Pal... HOW?!

I am using stamps.com and it imports the info from etsy. I got 3 free months, and am loving being able to ship first class international from home.

Will see if it is worth it when the monthly fee kicks in.

Lauren - I thought about Stamps.com but the additional monthly fee is not necessary. Although, I would love to be able to ship first class international instead of having to go to the post office all the time. I'd be interested to see how it works out for you after your trial period.

Re: Manually shipping with Pay Pal... HOW?!

The USPS has a downloadable program that allows you to print first class international labels. You will still have to purchase the postage at the post office, but it is so much quicker than hand writing customs forms. They simply scan the label at the office and charge you the amount for postage.

Re: Manually shipping with Pay Pal... HOW?!

I got 3 free months from stamps.com . It said any etsy seller that had never registered with them before got it. Mine didn't go through as free so I called them on the phone and they took care of it.

I love the convenience, and I have alot of customers in Canada and Australia.
The service is great, I have not paid the fee yet.

Unlike usps.com, the international first class postage is printed with the customs information on the label, I just drop the packages in the mailbox, no going inside the post office.

The biggest negative for me is I have to buy postage, I buy $100 at a time but you can buy any amount. Now I get a credit card bill every month for it, where with paypal it took it right out of the money I got paid. I have to remember to budget for that bill.

Re: Manually shipping with Pay Pal... HOW?!

Jen, you can go here http://webapps.usps.com/customsforms/#
to input and print your customs forms. I still have to go to the post office to pay for postage but my forms are printed ahead of time.

Re: Manually shipping with Pay Pal... HOW?!

Just shipped my first package with the wrong address using direct check out. I really do like paypals automatic address to ship.

I will now have to send the customer another item.

I am glad I only live 1 mile from the PO - it makes shipping very convenient!

Re: Manually shipping with Pay Pal... HOW?!

Just my 2 cents - shipping with PayPal doesn't always work.

This Team is about DIRECT CHECKOUT - and yes, if you need to "manually" bring the pax to the PO - so be it.

Why sign up with Etsy's DC and use PayPal for shipping?... I cannot figure that out. Why not just keep your PayPal account? Don't you love it? If you LOVED your PayPal account - YOU WOULD NOT BE HERE!

Etsy started this DC for us sellers who DIDN'T want to deal with PayPal - or other payment methods.

Why complain on what does or does not intergrate with Etsy's program.
We should be talking about DC - NOT PAYPAL!

Re: Manually shipping with Pay Pal... HOW?!

I do love my Pay Pal account. I also love my direct checkout account. I signed up for direct check out to give my customers more options. Some people don't know the options that Pay Pal has to offer - that you can pay with a credit card without having an account for example. Some prefer Pay Pal, so I keep that too. I don't think they started direct checkout specifically for people who didn't want to deal with Pay Pal. I think it's another option and a source of revenue for Etsy - great for them, great for us and great for our customers if you ask me!

I'm simply looking for an efficient way to print shipping labels at home. I do go to the post office daily. However, it's really convenient to have the packages ready to go and I'm all about looking for ways to make it quicker and easier. I'm personally glad that the Pay Pal ship now website has been made known on this thread. It is useful to me with regards to shipping my direct checkout items. Yes, I can go straight to usps.com or hand-write my packages. However, Pay Pal's set up is much more convenient for me (and it sounds like others as well).

We are talking direct checkout... and on that note, anyone have a better method of shipping those items sold through direct checkout?! Thanks for the advice on stamps.com and the feedback on Pay Pal. The only other options I know of are usps.com and hand-writing them. Any other constructive information is welcome! Thanks!

Re: Manually shipping with Pay Pal... HOW?!

You can still use paypal for shipping. www.paypal.com/shipnow

You just have to type the customer info and print the label and drop it in the mailbox.

Re: Manually shipping with Pay Pal... HOW?!

Erica, to answer your question...there isn't a button you can click on while in pay pal for ship now. I wish there were. You have to go into pay pal by "pay pal ship now". When you do this it takes you to where you sign in with your pay pal account and opens with the section that you can manually add in the address you're shipping to. No more having to go to the post office!

Re: Manually shipping with Pay Pal... HOW?!

I have a eBay account that I sell from sometimes. I am able to use eBay label printing to ship items sold on Etsy by editing an address from an item I already sold. This allows me to print First Class International without Stamps.com or without going to the PO. It's the only thing that keeps me on eBay.

Re: Manually shipping with Pay Pal... HOW?!

Never even thought to do that with EBay Laura - awesome idea!!! I hate having to hand-write first class international labels so that's a little way around it. Thanks so much!
